Thread: Damn, now I feel bad about Freelancer and Imperial pilots.

So here I am, complaining about the limited space in my X-Wing when I take a good look at Imperial and Freelancer and gasp in horror. Are the ones in the pilot link thread accurate? 110k is one of their HIGHEST masses? I was contemplating mastering alliance pilot and going to freelancer to get the YT for my smuggler, but oh my god..

>>I was contemplating mastering alliance pilot and going to freelancer

I did just that and don't regert it. Feeling sorry for freelancer? DON"T BE. Right now they're doing VERY WELL.

Freelancer droidprogramwise, now has some good droid programs. I'll go out on a limb and say their better than alliance programs.

Skill wise.. i have no comment as of yet.

Shipwise freelancers have 2 (later maybe 3) solid choices.

Dunelizard - more manuverable than an A wing and Xwing. Faster than xwing with s foils unlocked, a tad slower than an A wing. WIth 85K mass, and 2 hardpoints, this ship can give you a good run for your money. It is the "all you need" ship, and you get it at teir 1.

Ryzkik (sp) - more manuverable than than both Y wings, and sports more firepower than both with 3 hardpoints, not to mention having 190K mass. Nothing to sneeze at. A teir 4 ship, Compare it to the tie opressor, a master level imp ship that has 170 mass, same manuverablty, and 1 less gun.

COming soon, Kryat gunship at master. Dunno its manuverabilty ratings , but its going to sport 3 guns for the pilot, 1 MP turret, and 211 mass.

In Privateer you got your awesome droid commands which are essential to any pilot (Reactor Overload), you got you quick and agile fighter (the Dunelizard) and your heavy tank (the Rihk at tier 4 or the soon to be master ship the krayt) and you have DECENT commands, if Ep3 wasn't nerfed and was made to only hurt group members privateer would be a lot better off. But as it is we are good and once the Epulses and Pirate traps get tweaked, Privateer will be one of the best piloting proffressions if not the best. I love it. I just hope it doesnt get nerfed. knock on wood.

please tell me our Pulse wasn't nerfed, it was the only way to take out them jousting A-Wings i hate so much

I got to priveteer T3 once, then went Imp, Now I'm back as a new face

getting set up again in my dunelizard, and praying the pulse 1-3 can still drop them jousters fast.

I fly a Tie Advance and my max mass it around 70k, no where near 110k. It has just enough for some good level 7 shields, 2 level 5 guns, level 1 armor, level 3 reactor, level 2 capacitor, some level 1 missles and a 90 speed engine which I think is level 5, but I'm not sure. I seem to do better in dog fights than my freelancer friend so I don't complain, but I haven't done any pvp yet.

Flying ties I've always had to make a tough choice between which parts to use. I've always decided to go with the fastest engine I could find, then the best guns, then shields. I tried this with the Tie advance but the guns I had smoked through my energy way too fast and I haven't found a decent capacitor yet. I loaded up on shields instead and kept my level 5 guns which seems to be working ok for now. I think its cool not being able to always load the top of the line equiptment on to your ship, it makes you customize it to fit your style of flying.

You guys realize you can use all of the droid commands from all 3 pilot professions right? Can't really consider that as a factor when deciding which pilot is better. Just have an imp or rebel pilot burn their commands into a chip and then you can use the chip with their commands in your droid or flight computer.

You know, I think I'm bugged because I'm a reb and i have imp and freelance chips burnt into my droid and my flight computer...but for some reason they don't work at all....

Anyway, I think the devs should change this because if they wanted all pilots to use the same commands, then they would have given them to each pilot profession......keeping the use of them in their own pilot profession is part of what makes each profession unique other than the ships they fly....right now the only difference is the ships....everything else is equal...shouldn't be that way at all.

I believe it was nerfed in power and now it does not hurt allies anymore . They should bring it back to its full power and have it hurt ONLY Enemy NPCs and Allied NPCs as well as Grouped Players and Enemy Players, this way unnecessary griefing can not happen.

privateer ships have a lot more mass but they're so easy to hit....they have such a larger silhouette than even an xwing, let alone a TIE-adv or an A-wing.

Are you kidding me? You think the programs shouldn't be tradeable? Then nobody would join a faction because the Freelancers are the only balanced profession then (RO, CO, SS means all major systems that are droid modifiable save engine are modified). Whereas Rebels get shields only, and Imps get weapons and engines. Tradeable is the way to go for sure. GOOD JOB ON THIS ONE DEV'S!

People would still take a faction if they were untradeable, not that I'm in favor of it. One option to limit people from loading all 3 factions commands, make it so Rebel commands count one level higher for Imperials, and vice versa for Rebels - neutrals, being 'neutral' would have no limitation. In otherwords, Engine Overcharge 3 would take up as much space as a level 4 command in a Rebel's droid / computer.

You still have to worry about the driod program level. Unless your xxx4, you will not be able to use the Overload 4 programs.
