Are you kidding me? You think the programs shouldn't be tradeable? Then nobody would join a faction because the Freelancers are the only balanced profession then (RO, CO, SS means all major systems that are droid modifiable save engine are modified). Whereas Rebels get shields only, and Imps get weapons and engines. Tradeable is the way to go for sure. GOOD JOB ON THIS ONE DEV'S!

You guys realize you can use all of the droid commands from all 3 pilot professions right? Can't really consider that as a factor when deciding which pilot is better. Just have an imp or rebel pilot burn their commands into a chip and then you can use the chip with their commands in your droid or flight computer.

You know, I think I'm bugged because I'm a reb and i have imp and freelance chips burnt into my droid and my flight computer...but for some reason they don't work at all....

Anyway, I think the devs should change this because if they wanted all pilots to use the same commands, then they would have given them to each pilot profession......keeping the use of them in their own pilot profession is part of what makes each profession unique other than the ships they fly....right now the only difference is the ships....everything else is equal...shouldn't be that way at all.

You still have to worry about the driod program level. Unless your xxx4, you will not be able to use the Overload 4 programs.

Well, I'm 4-4-4-4 pilot and they still don't work....time to /bug the devs.

ILVec...

The rebel pilot special commands are useless during combat....can't even call for repairs or reloads during combat and when you do you have to wait forever for the ship to dock during which at any moment an enemy can scare it away...so the only good place to use it is near a friendly space station....but then at that point why would you call for either....the space station can repair and you can land and load up better missiles.......although Iff scramble and emergency shields are great......anyway, I haven't used the imp and neutral special commands....I have no idea what bstrike is like or epulse....but I'm guessing you can use them during battle.......rebels have a lot of restrictions compared to the other 2 factions.

Also, I didn't mean to start a debate on whether all factions should be able to use droid commands....I just don't believe that the devs actually wanted any faction to use other factions droid commands.....if they did, then it would have been a lot easier to just give each faction all the droid commands....other than the devs wanting use to trade or sell the chips to make a very small profit from them, I just can't see any reasonable explanation why a command that one profession gives you should be allowed to be used by another profession that don't even have it.....

When it comes to the pilot commands, that's a little different because you can only use them every couple of minutes and they have their limitations (like possibly total failure)....the droid programs on the other hand can be used as fast as your droid interface and droid will allow you to and from my understanding they don't fail.....I have a droid interface with 13.3 speed rating and on top of that I can use every single droid command that any faction has (well, i'm bugged but supposedly I can)....that's just not making me want to even pvp or feel like I have to overcome something.....the rebels always had to overcome the empire because they just didn't have what the imperials had......but if they had everything the imperials had....well, it wouldn't be a rebellion...it'd be two powerful entities opposing each other. Sorry to rant, but I just feel that it would help the game if every faction didn't have the same toys....by giving the factions the same toys...well, you just throw strategy out the window and it becomes a game of brute force and who can stay on target and has the quickest reflexes.

Freelance has the Iff scramble too and Imps have bomberstrike. Bomberstrike has a chance of total failure like was mentioned and cannot be used in pvp, but is the best ability imo. Bomberstrike3 calls something like 10 TIEs (fighters, bombers, interceptros, advanceds, aggressors) to help. They don't doa whole lot of damage but at the very least they draw a lot of fire that would otherwise be directed at you.

You're kidding, right? Programs and chips and astromechs/flight computers were specifically designed and implemented for just this purpose. Of course, this was the intention...

You make it sound like they dump code into a big cauldron and give it a few good stirs and see what they get.

edit: and oh yeah...don't feel badly for me either. I love my privateer ships and being a CorSec pilot...for the most part. Yeah, we got big ships, but who doesn't love a phat azz?!! When I fly a Rihk and easily outmanuever awings that others can't seem to get away from the joust with, my phat azz tingles and I get all y!

You don't have to feel bad for me either. I'm an Imperial pilot, and while my TIE Interceptor only has 50k mass, my bomber has 188k. When I want to fly something fast and maneuverable, with decent firepower and good shields, I fly my Int. I've had to balance the engine (a L2 RE'd one with very low mass that gives 692 speed) with a single heavy weapon and heavy shields, but no armor or launcher system.

When I want a ship where I don't have to think about mass or loadout considerations, I fly my bomber. It's got all the gear I can buy and fit in, plus mass for a lot more. Sure it handles like an elderly walrus at full throttle, but it's all right in the sweet spot.

Well after giving it some thought, I'd say you could be right. I just was thinking that it would have been easier to just give each pilot profession the commands themselves instead of having to burn them to chips and sell them to other players.....even selling them, there is not a big profit in it because the programs are so easily obtained.

Anyway, I came to this conclussion....since the programs are burnt to chips and installed into droids/flight computers......those droids/flight computers are basically interchangable with any ship that can handle them....so put a droid in any ship and any programs the droid knows will work on that ship.......

Simply put, the devs gave us chip to burn and put into droids to simulate the fact that a ship can benefit from any commands the droid knows......it's like R2 D2 could hack into imperial programs and open doors and find princess leia when she got captured.

So yeah, I've changed my mind on this....it's actually an immersive idea and actually has a purpose.

However, this does not mean the devs intentionally made it this way....if certainly could have been a mistake or side effectthat could have went either way....intentional the reasons above, or unintentional because they just didn't put in some kind of restriction for droid commands to be used in opposing factions ships.

Anyway, I'm happy to say that now my imp and freelance programs work now.....however, I still can't get the weapons overload and weapon tuning programs to work at all....maybe i'm doing something wrong....but when I use overload, I lose all weapons, boosters and capacitor....they are 100% disabled until I land and launch back into space......does it every single time I use it (like 12 times in a row now)......the weapon tuning simply doesn't do anything, not even a confirmation from my droid when I use it like all the other commands....at least there is no visual representation from the droid or in the V menu.....I simply don't see any effect from weapons tuning.

everything else works ok though.

What program lvl are you using???? Safe bet is to stick with lvl 3 programs. And when you do use them...try Reactor Overload 3 first,..then activate your other programs. I run a reactor that is 1k underpowered for mass. Before leaving station I hit Reactor Overload 3,..then cap overload 3,..then engine overload 3 en route...and by the time I get to my destination I hit weapon overload 3.

I don't touch tuning at all.

Also..here's a neat observation: It takes time to do a program. However, it seems that after a hyperjump...even if your flight comp's countdown timer till next executable is no where near done, you can hit the next program anyway!!! Try it out, let me know I don't have SPAAACE MADDNESS or sometthing.

The weapon tuning is level two...the cap overlaod is level 3 and all the rest I use are level 4....I'm going to experiement with different levels tonight and see what I get......although I don't really even need the cap overload now because I just looted a level 8 2.3k - 3.6k damage blaster with only 14.1 energy per shot and with a 49.7 recharge on my capacitor....I have plenty of energy without worrying about running low on cap energy....however, cap to shield shunt could still benefit from an overloaded cap.

Ah...stick with the lvl 3 and let me know how it turns out. My cap has a 46 recharge on it,..but I run 3 guns...two lvl 8 and a a Advanced Blaster...the added capacitor juice and storage capacity greatly helps.
