This is the most absurd mission I have ever done! Not only do they make it like 3 hours long with the endless escort, but ya gotta chase those goddam little Awings all over the sky like Gnats......Ya get jumped by Pirates, etc the WHOLE time.....ARRGGGHHHH!~

I just got to the 4th part of it and was almost done.......4 tier 4 DEATHWATCH ships come while I am fighting off 3 Xwings and a Bwing.....of course they hammered me into a pulp!

YES I am venting and YES I am whining! NO I dont want any cheese! I DID just snap the handle off one of my joysticks though......I have NEVER been this frustrated with this game EVER..... BAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Welcome to Storm Squadron. Get used to this.

We really need to talk to the devs about this. Not that the missions themselves need to be changed (I'm actually quite enjoying them this time), but a HUGE warning needs to be given when you try to enlist in Storm Squadron, letting you know that you will get your ass handed to you later on if you are a first-time pilot in no uncertain terms.

You trying to solo this?

If so, I suggest that after you calm down and get annother joystick hooked up, get some help with it. Some ppl can solo and entire pilot career, but most need some help(im part of the later group).

You will find that all t3 missions are long like this. And when I flew imp, those a-wings were hard. I have also found as a reb, higher tier interceptors are just as hard......

But as i said above, you might need to get a couple wingmen up with you, will make it easier, and except for the escort parts, quicker.

If you want to solo it, then you need to really adjust your tactics.

Really, I don't think that they are too long. Especially when you consider that they make up for 200k XP you'd have to earn. Of course, with a huge previous mastery bonus you're likely to fill those XP boxes faster than you finish the missions, but that is neither here nor there.

I would actually like it if the missions were a little longer. Alternately, if there were just more missions than what we have. I find grinding to be exceptionally dull, and the missions are really enjoyable. Yeah, Storm Squadron's a bear, but it is kind of unique. I do enjoy the missions, though.

I have calmed down a tad. I did get the warning on the difficulty of SS, thats why I did it for a challenge. I have mastered Alliance pilot twice and found it extremely easy. I took this as a challenge and really have been enjoying it up until this mission.

Again, the thing that really burned me is the 4 Deathwatch ships aggroing me, as if the mission isnt tough enough.......

Really? I'm going through Storm Squadron now, but up until Tier 3 there wasn't anything challenging at all. In fact, I failed the last Tier 2 mission on my first try because the gunboat was so fragile. I sort of broke it into pieces on accident while trying to shoot out its engine.

The challenging stuff is Tier 3 (and presumably Tier 4, I wouldn't know. Last time I did SS, I dropped at 3322. Couldn't destroy the A-wings fast enough, even with help). And it's rough. But I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Muahahaha!!! Viva La Storm!

I sympathise with you, i really do. Sorry to laugh (it was either that or cry),I thought about posting on the subject as well, heres my story...

I made a pure pilot last week ( cl 1, no credits to my name.. had to sell a piece of art and my upgrade plaque for 30k to get started ) well, im at 2/3/2/2 now, having finished that gawd awful mission this morning (3rd try, after having to buy aTIE/IN just to get some decent gear into it) I figure the nextmission might notbe that bad, right?

Heh. Well the next one starts with trying to disable a recon A-Wing, right, lets go.. well theres 4 tier 4 X-Wings and that tier 3 A to deal with.. ok ok i got this.. iscrap through them with heavydamage and dock the A. Great! mission accomplished, which is good, cause now i figure i can limp back to the station and repair.. oh wait, round 2 . 5A -wings in a surpise attack! gah! eject and repair... alright now i know, ill be ready for em.. take two (after buying a new shipwright made engine) the x's fall fast, the fast motor helps a ton! the A-wings are a little troublesome, but they just scratch my armor.. alright, next box coming up, right? Round 3. go inspect rebel cargo ship.. sigh, alright, lets see how this works... waypoints a good distance away.. everything looks clear, but as i get closer, 2 tier 4 pirates jump me from the asteroids.. finish one, the others toasting me pretty good (meanwhile the one i just killed respawns), so i micro jump out to try and repair, and maybe come at it from another angle.. well 2 tries later, these same bloody pirates keep slowing me down. well by this time, i try approaching from the opposite side of the zone.. well this time i get close enough to see my target, with about 6 or 7 rebel fighters around it, not to mention it looks like its right next to a spawn point for another mission (theres a named pirate transport in the area, with a swarm of pirates around it too) all red.. well here goes.. i cant recon any more.. 2 y-wings and an X later, i feel like im doing ok, im taking hits, but i figure, i keep moving i might scrape through... then i get the dreaded

Connection to SWG Lost

Gahh!! i say screw it, go get my dinner, come back and log in, im on endor, 100 meters outside the imp base, i got to the terminal, my ship is thrashed.. sigh.. i repair/get mission and launch.. round one.. i line up my first shot and squeeze the trigger.. nothing! check weapon, its 100%, squeeze, click, squeeze, click.......

i must have bugged my gun, firing as i lost connection. I'd report the bug, but my guess is i wont hear from a csr for days, and if i did, they would probably tell me to wait for the next server reset anyway.

So there you go, misery loves company they say, i hope sharing my pain in some way help to lessen yours.

I look forward to having a storm squardron pilot, but some days your the windshield, some days your the bug

Thats a painfull story dubacca.....

I would like to offer a painfull story, but when I have been beaten badly, it was my own skills that caused it, not game glitches.

I recently got owned by the corvette in kashyyyk. I hit iff to let my cap recharge, I had already taken out 3 of the 7 gun turets. When I hit iff, i stopped my ship. I was planning to hit full throttle as I started firing when my cap recharged. But I actually just sat there, and after getting my first shot off, he wiped me out. Didn't evan have time to throttle up before he got me.....Also, having no armor doesn't help.

Don't shoot the turrets off of the Kashyyyk vette. Just missile the vital components after taking out gun 5. If a gunboat spawns, having something other than the reactor and bridge for it to fire on while you take it out is good.

I just did SS again myself, and noticed a few things. It doesn't really seem harder for the most part, just less streamlined. For example, SS missions seemed to wander into high Tier wild spawns more frequently. All of the squadrons send you against ships 1 Tier above you, SS seems to do it more frequently. Tier 3 didn't give me much trouble either, but I kill pretty quickly, and I think that makes a big difference. Once you understand how the JTL AI flies, you can kill NPC ships very quickly with just about any setup, and that tends to be the key to survival in these missions.

I'm not a fast killer. I know that going in. So that third mission may be hard for me again this time around. But I'm a much better pilot than I was back then. I know what I'm doing, and I have a ship I know how to use (none of that Bomber stuff this time). I'll get through it, but it may take me a while to get my a-wing killing time down enough.
