Thread: Can we up the component drop rate in Deep Space?

I don't understand why, after hours of flying around Deep Space, I can be left with a few crappy level 8 droid interfaces, a few semi-worthless level 8 boosters, and a level 2 reactor. Where are the level 10 components, let alone level 10 blasters?

With the way RE'ing works there needs to be a place where the chance of getting level 8, 9 and 10 components is significantly higher, and worth the risk. I know the chance of getting high-level components in DS is higher then other places, but it doesn't seem high enough to me, not by a long shot, not for decent components.

I know this has been brought up before, but really, it needs to be pushed for more. JtL, unfortunately at this point, does not have an "end-game", once you reach master there's not much to do and instead you've got to make your own content. For many, including myself, that is outfitting their ships with components, but I'm getting tired of having to spend hours upon hours in DS just to come out empty handed.

Once you understand how the drop system works you'll understand why high tier ships drop less. It was actually requested by the playerbase by the way.

Im new to JTL (got it with RotW DD), so mind to explain what was actually reuested? To lower the loot drop? Why? People got sick of getting loot or something?

So far, the only thing I understand about loot drop in space is 2 things : 1.- Tier level doesnt matter, even though there is a higher probability to loot high level components from Tier 5, you end up looting the same crap in Tier 3 as well. and 2.- Duty missions make it so ships dont drop loot, and if they do, its every 15 ships or so.

Not to mention the focus recently to reduce the loot...which is kinda countermanded by the ROTW rewards being occasionally better than even the previous reward weapons.

Since P18 I've noticed a marked reduction in loots, and I don't notice as much tier-specificity anymore (getting levels all over the place randomly instead of about an 70/15/15 split for on-par/lower/higher drops from T3 and T4 ships.

I think they screwed with the drops again.

I dunno, people think the drop rate gets messed with basically every publish, but I'm not sure I've seen a change to the rate of loot drops since JTL started. Certainly not since December or so, when I started to understand how this stuff worked.

I'll be running some duties in just a minute here, so I'll see how things look after a mission or two.

I will finish by saying that I don't want to see anything changed. If a few people didnt get much in the high end zones, I'll chalk it off to a bad night looting until someone can run hard numbers that say loot is no longer falling with in the distribution we are used to.

I never look at what I loot in a single tier 4 duty/DS run. If I check at the end of the week it all averages out to 2 L6, 1 L7, 1L8 and 1 L10 gun, several L6 and L8 engines, and a variety of other usefull loots per duty flown. Some runs I come home with 30 components, other runs with 110. This hasn't changed in months.

I almost always get 40-50 components from a tier 4 duty of 315 ships. I would peg the droprate at about 1/7 on tier 4s. Ran a couple just tonight and got right around 90 components, so with a test sample of over 600 ships, everything seems the same to me.

Here's my experience for a good deal of missions last night:

I flew for over 500,000 exp doing 95% Tier 4s means I killed about 130-140 something ships (blacksuns, corsecs, and TIEs). This experience was split almost exactly even between a duty mission and a Tier 4 training mission. I had a total of about 15 pieces of loot the whole night, and of those, only4 or 5were actually worth keeping. The rest were either ridiculously low (lvl 1 armors?!?) or bad lvls, like odd lvl number engines and caps. Only 1 weapon in the bunch, a lvl 7.

It certainly seemed like a whole of work for little reward.

Washell has it right, don't judge based on one night. I've often gone streaky with loot, and don't complain when I come home with less than 20 pieces, because I know I'll have a night with 7 crucial parts very soon.

I think that DS needs looking into as well.....I don't think tier 5's should be dropping level 2 components in DS. They should never drop any thing lower than level 5.

i've had the odd level 3 component in DS in the past few days, but never a level 2 and i've had quite a bit of lvl 8 and 9 components. yesterday, playing for roughly 1 hour, i looted around 15 pieces, and overhalf were lvl 8+.

I spent about 1 hour in DS yesterday. Granted I only killed around 2 dozen eyeballsbut I believe I only got around 3-5 loots. None of any quality. I believe most were droid interfaces of lvl5 or above.

I did spend 1 hour doing the BS duty mission from Arkon at Nym's hotel. I'm already Ace but use this mission for Cash/Loot runs. The mission normally takes me around 1 to 1.5 hours. I make between 150k and 250k and pull in 40-90 looted items. Last night I made ~200k and got 43 looted items. I found 3 or 4 lvl 7 weapons, 1 lvl 9 weapon, 1 lvl 10 weapon, a couple decent reactors and capacitors (good for RE'ing for one stat or another), and a couple lvl 6 and above engines. All in all not a bad loot run. Last night was the first time I paid close attention to the number of drops and amount of cash I got doing this mission. I belive I normally get about the same cash and a higher number of drops although the higher number of drops is normally because of a higher number of 'sell to the chassis dealer' stuff. Once I sold some of this off to the chassis dealer I made around 300k and had a few items to save for RE'ing. None of the parts were spectacular but I have seen the occasional spectacular item that makes the rest great filler.

Any one know of another good loot run like this, I'm getting a little burned out on killing BS's over and over......

Take a duty from another rebel tier4 trainer. The General on Rori has one vs TIEs and if you do it overt you walk away with a bunch of fp in addition to cash and loot.
