Thread: Anyone else want to see NAVY ranks introduced for JTL?

The ranks we have right now are all based on the ground game army. It hit me today that it would be really neat if they introduced a second set of ranks for JTL that was modeled after the NAVY's ranks. I am not sure how much support something like this would have or even if the developer's would ever consider adding itbut I think it would be cool to have aLt. Commander rank as opposed to Major.Who knows, we might even be able to convince someone to let us purchaseJTL NAVY ranks with prestige points. Sorry, just a random thought I had today at work and figured I would pass onto see if anyone else has thought of something similar.

Ooo!!! That'd be cool!
Two options for how to do it in the existing system:
- Add it as an optional title that you earn when you finish a tier
- you purchase a navy rank with pilot prestige from your tier 4 pilot trainer
or, possibly a combination of both...

I would love it. I have been NAVY of 3 years and I am sick on wearing army af maries ranks in the game. I love tradition and my navy tradition cant be found here it sucks

Not really sure what this person said but I like the idea. Seperate ranks would be nice (and shouldn't be too hard to implement).

I agree with the original poster, I would much rather be known as a captain (the navy equivilant of colonel) than a colonel.

And that's why I'm not moving past Captain on the ground. Not much point in it, really. And I dig the title.

Only advantage I've seen it in /delegating faction points. The ratio is less for a colonel than a captain.

well the problem is what would the ranks be? youd have to have a 1:1 corellation with ground faction, since you obviously couldnt hold two ranks at the same time and you needa rank to manage faction delegation and contraband scans etc.
Since all you do is fly fighters and small multiplayer ships, you really couldnt ascend to the ranks of admiral or captain or anything that tends to imply capital ships, flotillas, etc etc....maybe commander is as high as you could go. Thats the problem with navy ranks.....there really isnt a navy per se on the player side of things

I found something intresting. According to this site, theres acutally three branches of rank. Two are from the movies, ones from the EU i guess. Its notable to note that sony DID START TO USE some of the "Starfighter corps" ranking system. You see this when you do Imp pilot.

I dont see why the same ranking system couldnt work for both factions. But seriously, i am all up on the idea of converting presituge to rank somehow. Very cool incharacter thing to do. i love the idea to tears.

I still wish that we could get the jackets with the rank badges on them. I don't care if I need to buy a seperate jacket for each rank, I'll do it. They just look so empty without the rank thingies.
