I've been flying a Dunelizard ever since I was certed for the thing, and I do like it a lot, but I wonder if I should be flying a different ship now that they're available. Specifically, the Kimogila or Kihraxz. Or even a Heavy Scyk (the YPR on that thing look insane).

The only other thing I fly in combat other than my lizzy is the grivious fighter. Nothing else gives you the combination of speed and loadout.
(well, ok, occasionally I'll take my Krayt into combat, but only if I've got wingmates to cover that giant rear-end....

I would say stick with the dunnie till you get to 4xxx, then get a Rhik or a bel-22

Dunelizard is great until you get to tier 4. Once you are a master pilot I recommend the krayt for parts grinding and the heavy scyk for pvp. That is what I use on starsider for pvp. I suppose some would say that I'm not a real pilot for using it, but I have to disagree. I prefer the heavy scyk over the Bel and the JSFsince it looks so cool painted all black. It also has the hitbox of an awing. Combine that with its awesome maneuverability and 95k mass and you have a great fighter.

Kimos are fun, I flew one forever till I hit Tier 4 and got a Rihk. Kimos get a lot of mass to play with compared to the Dunie but you lose out a lot on handling and gain a much larger target profile. You'll need some serious shielding to keep it from going boom though. Not a bad fighter but not a good fighter either.
The Rihk is like the A-10A Thunderbolt of space - massive weapons, massive target profile, and as fast as a speeding turtle. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my Rihk for anything though. The Rihk can pack some of your best weapons, shields, cap, and engine while leaving enough room for a missile launcher and decent armor. The firing pattern is better since it's all pretty much centerline, making it a point-and-shoot fighter. The only area you'll be mostly disappointed in is the handling and speed of the Rihk compared to the Dunie. Getting a high YPR engine and running EO3 or EO4 makes up for some of the differences but it still handles... sluggishly when compared to the Dunie.
As for the Heavy Syck, it's a blast. You can pretty much use a lvl 7 or 8 gun with a lvl 8 shields and a QID for one mean little fighter. If you can get a Heavy for a reasonable price, I say go for it. You'll be able to use almost all your Dunie parts in the Heavy and still have enough room to upgrade at each Tier. The downside to the Heavy is... ummm... well, I can't honestly think of a serious performance downside to it.

The Scyk looks awfully tempting, heh, the manuverability stats are whacko!

I like my heavy scyk and I don't find it boring at all. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. And you might have to update your Kill/Death ratio there.

were you the guy in the scyk a couple weeks ago when a group of imps jumped in and we ended up fighting around the ISD? Not sure who all the rebels were but I know Pro was there and Naithan was with us imps.

Aye, that was me. I think there were three of you. I remember you in your interceptor, some guy in a heavy tie (don't remember his name) and Naithan in his JSF. It was a great fight.

That fight was unbelievable. I think you and I went at it for like 10 or 15 minutes... in and out of the ISD fire zone... around the ISD... slide showing our way through the shields. I was almost glad when you finally got me. Any more tension and I would have busted a blood vessel. I ment tosend you a /saluteafterwards but everything was happening so fast I didn't get your name.

Hehe yeah, it was one of the crazier fights that I have been in. But I like it when I'm outnumbered. Seems to make me fly better.

Well, you have gotten a lot of great advice from a lot of good and respected pilots.
My $0.02, I love the Lizzy. It was all I ever flew as Privateer all 3 times I did it. For my flying style, it is the king of PvE for the Privateer. Two guns, plenty of mass, handles quite well, but the hitbox is huge.
Now, keep in mind, I never did PvP with my Privateer, so this is really only speaking from PvE experience.
EDIT: I should qualify this with the fact that I did TRY all the other privateer ships, but this is always what I came back to and stuck with
