Due to some circumstances out of my control, I no longer have my pre-nerf engine given at the end of Tier 3.
So, since the player crafted engines suck in my point of view (they may be fast but speed doesn't do crap if your turning is horrible), are the stats on looted Lv. 8, 9, and 10 engines any good? The only reason I'm asking this is because I've never even seen a looted engine higher than Lv. 5. Do engines even drop at that level?

Engines can be crafted to above 100 max speed now, you know? The old engines were crappy, but the new ones aren't as bad if you can afford the tons of mass.

Yeah, I know the max speed gets over 100 now, but I like to have high RPY as well. Being an Imperial Pilot, the ships don't have much mass to spare.
Thanks for the info though.

Crafted engines have high speed but are too sucky with RPY.

ermm.. isn't that the end-of-tier-3 pre-nerf one that he mentioned in his original post?!

Man, talk to a ShipWright, He can put his experment points where ever you want them. When I make engines I take the speed up a bit, then experment on yaw and pitch. You need roll, but not as much as yaw and pitch IMHO. Anyways talk to a SW and get a custom engine made for yourself, you might like it. But of course, a good loot engine is awalys the best way to go.

i was able to find a level 10 engine with a top speed of 95 or so with 50k mass. once it is RE'd and according to my calculations, it should have a top speed of 100+ with PYR in the low 80's. the mass might be high still where it will end up in the high 40k range. however, im not too concerned since this engine is going in my YT-1300. this will be a huge improvement over what i have in there now which is a crafted level 9 engine of 103 speed but with a PYR in the low to mid 50's
as far as other engines, the highest i've seen looted (not reward) for a level 6 and 8 is a top speed ofhigh 70'sandmid 80's, respectively.
i have several prenerf reward engines. i have 3 level 6's that after RE has a top speed of 95.9 with PYR in the low 70's and 8k mass. i also have the prenerf freelance reward level 8 engine that has a top speed of 108 (or 106...i forgot) and PYR in the mid 70's with 22k mass.
i have looted a fair amount (i have 300 items in my house that only has level 6, 8, and 10 engines, weapons, caps, and shields) so i think this is a good sample of what is out there at this point in time.

I know you're from Gorath, so with an engine like that why didn't you participate in Meeuki's Kessel Run?

RE'd engine is the way to go.
For Tie's i find that RE'd L6's at 9400ish mass are ideal.

I have a lev 4 REd with 3700 mass pyr 60s speed 95. That lets me get 2 lev 10 blasters on my KSE. I had an REd lev 10 on my ship, but I honestly couldn't handle it. The PYR was all in the lower 80s. It manouvered too well lol. I prefer an upper 60s, to lower 70s PYR with Engine Overload 3.
