Anyone find that the best space loot comes from kessel, deep space or just totally random? I've been doing tier 4 black sun missions trying to get the helmet for over 2 weeks now. The loot is decent but my best level 6 engine is still only 77 speed and my top level 8 is the reward and level 10 a 87.5 speed. I've yet to see anything over 90 or 100. Any suggestions where or what to hunt or does it matter?

now that engine speeds have been super-nerfed, those numbers arent so bad. the 77 speed on the level 6is probably about as high as your gonna find.

Totally random. I just got a sweet Level 7 (or 8?) engine that is around the same speed as yours, and it is the first I have seen since I have been looting. I did manage to get a 91.4 Lvl 10, but that sucker only has a home in my Decimator due to it's mass. Now I have to work on filling out the RE for this new engine (which is in the KFC Chickenspray), but I generally do 2 Yavin runs and then another hour and a half in Deepspace and still do not have enough to RE my Lvl 8/Lvl 10 gear. There are so few people on Gorath in Kessel it is not worth it to bother there except on the weekends, or the odd prime time.

I've found that generally loot drops are random. So your best bet is to find a spot with a whole lot of tier threes and just blow the heck out of anything that moves until your can't hold anything more. Then maybe you'll have a good part or two.

Loot drops are pretty random, like getting lvl 3 and 5 stuff from tier 5 gunboats, when you get anything at all. But as a general rule, the more high tier NPC's you can kill, the better your chances are to get some decent loot.

oh god, last night i killed like 20 gunboats in DS and all i got was 2 level 1 capacitors!

Anyone spent alot of time killing those tier 5 droid gaurdians in Endor? Anything good?

My favorite targets for loot are the swarms of Tie Interceptors and Tie Fightersin Deep Space. You can kill all 9 of them in less than 2 minutes. With that kill rate, it doesn't matter if loot doesn't drop too frequently. If you go overt, you'll go through about 20K FP before filling a 50 item backpack.

I might be imagining it, but i seem to get a slightly high drop rate on gunboats by spraying the hull with shots (after the engine is gone) rather that just plugging away on one spot. I've tried this a few times on those 3-gunship wings, disabling all three then peppering them with blaster fire. Sometimes I get an item from all three, sometimes i get nothing. Like I said, I'm probably imagining it.

The last good engine I looted was a level 10 at 91.9 speed. The yprs were low, and the mass high, but considering the drop rate for level 10's is near zero, I'll take what I can get. I'm sure I'll never get another 102 speed, 80 ypr level 10 again (which fits nicely on my opressor, with two post RE level 10 guns btw /evilgrin)

I really dont understand why level 1 and 2 (and to a lesser extent 3,4,5 and 6) loot is dropping in DS.

Hey do you know what the name of those 2 lvl 10 engines you are talking about are? I have been trying to compile a list of the "uber" drops and its defintly looking like they are all certain names. Where they Kuat Elite Engines?
