I've just finished the final Tier 4 box (Tat neutral) and I am trying to do the final mission before getting to go on to the Master box. Part 2 of that mission involves taking out a Tier 4 Corsec YE-4. So far it's killed me four times.
I've done standard stuff, upgraded my armor, loaded up on photons, positioned myself under, targeted the reactor, sent an E-pulse when I got near. Once I tried to hit with pulse, missiles, and blasts and then escape as fast as I could. It immediately wiped out my rear shields and armor.
Any suggestions beyond what I've been doing, or "bring a friend" ????? Can these things be soloed?

When I did the mission, I had to bring a friend. Heh, an uber Wookiee ace pilot and soloed the Corsec gunboat and pretty much soloed the Corvette.

This is the gunboat that chases and turns, so getting under her is no easy task. fast moving strafing runs are your best bet, and don't bother with epulse, save your special move for a needed IFFscramble if you cant get away fast enough.

Yeah, ditch epulse...it's a quick cloning ticket in most cases unless it kills all nearby targets. Are you using all the overloads you should, both imp and freelance? Are you using captoshieldshunt?

I use cap to shield a lot, along with the ones to shift from front to back and from back to front shields. I haven't tried the overloads. They are useful?

Sorry, my warped sense of humor will not let me resist posting this. Fuss, you just told him to urinate the ship down. That's going to get him really p*ssed off...

Yes! Ditch the shield adjustments and program your droid for Weapon Overload 3, Reactor Overload 3, Capacitor Overload 3, and Engine Overload 3. Load up all 4 programs as soon as you launch and use cap to shield while you're attacking. This won't guarantee victory for you personally, but it should help quite a bit.

Upgrade your shields to high regenerating shields. Armor is only good as a back up if they take your shields out. I can almost alwayslive by my shields alone adn if they hit my armor, i start to really work fast in saving my arse.

If you disable gun 5, it wont be able to fire backwards, IIRC.Also, try loading up a rack of concussion missiles and crafted weapons with really high vs armor ratings. The concs will strip off the shield quick, and your disruptors will take down the components faster. You can probably disable it in1-2 passes, then just hangback at 548m where it canthit you and pump away on it. This is what I did for the CP 4444 exit mission, with the tier 4 deci and a swarm of fighters.

Well I did it, thanks to all your advice. My alt is a Master SW, so I made the best armor and shields I could, grabbed a new V5 flight computer and loaed it with all those programs that were suggested. I noticed when I took on the TIEs in part 1 of the mission that they went down much faster than before.
Got a bit lucky when I took on the YE-4, as I got so close I kind of fired on its systems from inside.
Question about the computer programs: How long do they last? Do I just fire up the overloads when I get into space and not worry about them again? Or do I have to run them every so often, or if go to hyperspace?
By the way, the only capacitor program I found was called Weapons Capacitor Overcharge and not Overload. I assume this is the right one? Why level 3, by the way, and not level 4 on these programs?
After I finished, I tried doing the first Kessel mission, taking out the 30 imperial aces. The first three were easy, and I started to think it was just going to take some time but no big hassle. But the fourth one, a TIE Aggressor, was much tougher and took out my front shields and armor fairly quickly. Any tips for this mission, besides "bring some friends"?
