"If you disable gun 5, it wont be able to fire backwards"
It's gun 2 on the back of the Gunships. Gun 5 is the one you want to knock out on the bottom of the corvette.
"How long do they last? Do I just fire up the overloads when I get into space and not worry about them again? Or do I have to run them every so often, or if go to hyperspace?"
They last until you land or your ship is repaired(this includes leaving Deep Space, so you'll have to restart them if you get out of there alive, heh).
"the only capacitor program I found was called Weapons Capacitor Overcharge and not Overload. I assume this is the right one?"
It's the same thing; overcharge is a relatively new program, and most people were used to just using "Overload" programs all the time(so they mix up the names easily).
"Why level 3, by the way, and not level 4 on these programs?"
The level 4 programs drain a LOT more power from your reactor and will damage your components more(notice that when you use an overload program, the component you're overloading takes some points of damage; and every time you have to repair a component, the max armor is reduced).
Level 3 packs a nice punch without coming back at you too hard.

The kill 30 mission shouldn't be much of a problem for you. If you don't have a wingaman or two with you, invite any imperial/freelancer you see in Kessel, as their kills go toward your total. It's still very soloable, jsut takes longer.
Bombers are your easiest targets followed byTIEs then interceptors. Unless you are fairly good pilot, try to leave the aggressors be. If you're a good shot, just make sure you target the weapons first when attacking aggressors. Advanced and Oppressors can be somewhat like aqings in that they are fast and manuverable, but they are also very valid targets. Avoid any gunboats/vette during this, as dieing will make you have to start over.
It really helps if you find groups that are engaged with other npc fighters, since those ally faction npc's will keep the attention of the your enemies.

Thanks for all the help. Any tips on doing the first Master mission? As i wrote the first three TIEs were easy, but the fourth one was a killer. Can this be done solo? Should I avoid any particular targets?

Kreng, what you're not getting is the original post is about a very specific gunboat on a specific mission. It's AI is different than the ones you see in space travelling a route. It's job is to kill you, and it will turn and chase you. All the normal methods (floating in the blindspot, taking out the tailgun, etc) dont really matter on this beast.
btw, next time you take one one in a normal encounter, target gun 2 and then follow behind him once the gun is dead, much easier than making lots of passes on each gun in turn.

I just killed a corsec gunboat (Ye-4) Im RSF with a Rykzyrk. I have 3 decent guns and a 2400 hp shield. I managed to kill it making a few quick passes, targeting the ye-4's guns, it has 6 or 7 so yea it takes a while but I did it solo. Make a quick pass, turn quick when your front shield gets chewed up, then boost away before your rear does. I boosted my shields with weap cap energy a bunch of times (droid command) Just keep making quick runs and throw a few missiles too, Best appoach is under and below, only 1 gun defending there if it doesnt turn. Just get away if your shields go down and let recharge. Not too hard

You are probably the first person I've seen who is proud to have the Balloon Jacket. Well, at least you wont have to worry about drowning if you go in the water...

Doesn't look balloon to me, but then it is a privateer jacket. Perhaps you are referring to the reb ones?

Thirty kill mission is done, and I'm proudly wearing my new ace jacket. Next step will be going to my server forum and trying to recruit a group to take on the corvette. Thanks for all your help!
