Ok, now that I vented, just have to say I really enjoy JTL. I've used double XP weekend to complete all of my Smuggler's Alliance Tier 4 boxes and all the SA Tier 4 duty missions to get trained.

Now here's my problem. The final mission to move onto the kessel ones requires I kill an imperial ace and his buddies (very easy), thenI move on to a Corsec Gunboat and his Firespray wingman (ugh, not so easy).

I've got weapons overload 3, cap overload 3, shield shunt 3,reactor overload 3 all turned on. I will also use IFF scramble to buzz away from him on occassion, but it takes forever to recycle and use over again.

I tried using my Jedi Starfighter, with passing attacks but no luck, it takes a few hits and explodes. Tried my heavy 190k mass Rhykyyk Fighter, lasted a little longer but same thing, toasted.

Now I've read in here peeps say it's easy to kill gunboats, just stay 535 - 549 meters slightly below and to the rear and poof easy pickins, but they must be talking about ones which don't juke and move around and chase after you. That's what this Corsec gunboat will do.

I think my next run will be to draw away the firespray, paste his arse, then have a go at the gunboat.

1. Anyone have some good tactics on how to finish the gunboat off?

2. If I disable his reactor will that disable all his weapons?

3. Should I instead try for weapon 2 (rear firing weapon)?

Ugh, I am so desperate to complete master pilot and use my YT-1300, please help. And if your on starsider give me a /tell, I will be glad to accept any assistance formy sorry arse

I would say, screw gun 2, go for the engines.Thismission is a pain i know, especially nowwith the new fast GBs.

Pack lots of missles and friends. Since your neutral everyone can help you.

I think you can do like this tho :

1. Make sure you fire at the GB first, then he´ll follow you.

2. Boost away a bit and fly at around 600m from him and match his speed so he flys after you but cant close in.

3. Get your friends to make runsin the blind spot and blast his enigne down.

4. Voila!

I had the same problems, and the only way I did it was by throwing bodies at it.

Had a hot stick master pilot help me out and we managed it. Just keep yourself out the way - the guys with you can die as many times as they like, but you need to survive.

Unfortunately the tactics for blowing GBs don't work with this guy, as it's not on a fixed flight path and it'll turn and blow you apart rather than letting you sit on its tail and blast away.

Get a group, get missiles

After that you should be able to solo the imp ships in Kessel, but you'll probably need help with the corvette.

Also, you could try and get some weapon overload program chips, but whenever I seem to use them they blow my weapons and incap them :/

I did this one solo (recently) the trick is getting the high mass fighter rhixicsomething, fitting it with your reward shields, get a fast new crafted engine and a good booster, and dont forget to pack cap to shield shunt, the just fly towards the gunboat (engine targetted) and fire a few shots at him, then when your close to him boost away, then wait untill your shields are full again (use cap to shield shunt to speed up this process) rinse and repeat. In the end i got him

Ok, ok, ok, I'll help you with it tonight, I promise, last night I got involved in some stuff and completely forget. So send me a tell and we'll go do it soon as you do.

Oh, and if you havn't already, go visit Tomo's shop and get you some of them 1900 shields of his. I couldn't take mission gunboats, which do indeed jerk and roll and turn all over the place, without them.

Your problem is probably your reactor. When you use overload programs, the component you overloaded uses more power, putting more stress on your reactor. if you end up needing more energy than you have available, then your components shut down. Easily fixed though, a good reactor and the reactor Overload program run before you run the others should stop the component-incapping.

I did this one last night, my third try.

I had a Rihxyrk. Loaded up with at 16xxx reactor (crafted), 1900 shields, 1500 front armor, agood 42 recharge capacitorand, aMark IIIconcussion missile launcher, and3advancedblasters. Use Reactor Overload 3 first! Otherwise you can disable your droid interface from lack of power when you use any other overloads. I used Weapon Capacitor Overload 3 as well. That gives you a good recharge time if you use cap-to-shield shunt (which you will). Shield Adjustment Front Moderate might be a good idea...your front shields take a pounding.

The first fiew seconds are critical. I lined up below it, flying the same direction, out of sight of all the guns. I pitched up, hit it with a concussion missile and started in with all 3 guns. I launched the 2nd missile as soon as I was able, which finished off the rear shields. By this time, the gunboat had turned and exposed Weapon 2 (the rear turret) to me.It kept turning, trying to bring the dorsal turrets to bear, but I managed to keep below their limit of traverse for the most part. Once I had Weapon 2 taken out, I just kept hammering it as the Firespray started chewing up my rear shields. Blewthegunboatup, maneuvered around the Firespray and took it out quickly.

Wow, thanks for all the great tips! And Arsani, I will definitely take you up on that offer. I think i see my problem, now. I was not using reactor overload 3 first off. So, this must have baked my shields early on and/or made them weak. Anyhow, I will try reactor overload 3 first, capacitor overload 3, then weapon overload 3 then shield shunt 3.

I also have heavy blasters on my rhykkyyk and nice concussion III missiles so will give that a try. Also, with Arsani's help I just might survived this bad boy

I am desperate to get my YT-1300 cert. already have the ship just need the master pilot slot to use it /drool

Spacebombs.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

Hmmm, haven't come across space bombs, but I have to give a resounding thanks to Arsani and Tsb. Both of them came to my aid and helped me close out tier 4. They made extreme short work of that gunboat. I helped (a little), hehe But they did the motherload of damage through a series of gun and run attacks on the gunboat. So I copied that when doing my little bit. Especially helpful was the tip about shooting your missiles (concussion in my case) then doing a 180 outta range. Wash rinse and repeat.

This Corsec gunboat really likes to juke and turn and track you down.

Also helpful was doing the reactor overload 3 first, then capacitor overload, etc. Again 3 cheers for the master smuggler pilots Arsani and Tsb. I'll definitely call on them when I'm ready for that corvette.

You realize you don't have to do this mission right? Once you have all the tier 4 boxes you can go straight to the corvette. That mission is pure unadulterated hades.

What do you mean?.. Can you skip that mission and go directly to the 2 master missions?
I was trying that mission a few times yesterday, and got toasted all the time
I noticed that you could pick one firespray out of the escort by comming in from the rear, and shoot just once on the firesprays... usually only one would be hit and it would break off and be easy to take out.
But that Gunboat just turned and twisted too much and it even fly fast enough to follow and waiste me if I try to get away

I was in Kessel testing out how to kill a Tier 5 Imperial Gunboat, and that worked out pretty well, and was surprised that a Tier 4 gunboat could be that much harder to kill...

So, if its possible to skip this mission I would be interested how do you do it?

all accounts cancled. im leaving this game

I had some fun in Kessel again Tier 5s myself ... have you ever tried to take one of the ones fighting Rebel ships? They just keep maneuvering, and a Tier 5 can chew you up fast if you're not careful. I did it with no more than a bit of armour damage, but it took a LOT of runs ... I like the idea of drawing aggro then getting friends to take it out.
