I have just done my first Vortex Squadron Tier 3 mission......which I failed because instead of going back to the Space Station to repair my horrific damage I ejected. (Damn another hours worth of work to redo I guess.)

Question is though....... is there a list of the Vortex Squadron Tier 3 and Tier 4 missions anywhere, including what they are ???

The Vortex Tier 3 mission 1 completely suprised me as its a continuing sub-mission after sub-mission which didn't allow me to go and rearm, or reload really. (Din't need to until I tried to disable the spy.)

Not there yet, just finished Tier2 all solo.

If I can find nice exp spawn, I'll start Tier3 missions soon and comment on them

You don't need experience to advance in Tier 3, each skill box is granted for free after each mission.

Actually I've just done Tier 3's missions 1 and 2.

Mission 1 was a bit of a hard fight but manageable until you get to the sub-mission where you have to disable the YT-1300 with the Imperial Spy on.

No wonder the Millenium Falcon can keep getting hit again and again, as its hard. Especially when you disable the engine, and reactor and the weapons are still firing. If you disable the reactor and hang around too long before Inspecting & Docking the YT-1300 will blow up. (Don't worry it just respawns.)

The best way I found, (I solo'd it but I'd suggest to other people to take a friend along,) was to disable the engines and then disable one weapon. Then dock with the YT-1300 on the now weaponless side.

Mission 2 was a lot easier than Mission 1. Especially as the Black Flight fighters are much slower and larger than TIE's and make for easier targets.

The only difficult part I found was the Black Flight Squadron Leader who you need to disable and dock with. He is surrounded by about half a dozen other Black Flight ships. As I was flying a rather beefy Y-Wing Long Probe I disabled him first and docked with him straight away. Not a tactic I would try again alone next time as by the time I had disabled him, docked and made a short micro-hyperspace jump within the system, I had lost all of my shields, all of my rear armour, weapons were gone, droid gone, in fact everything was disabled or at 0% except my engines which were pottling along at 54% and my reactor which was at 5% (didn't realise it was that hammered.

Im now kitting out an X-Wing to do missions 3 and four tonight.

BTW if you have a Y-Wing go hunt random Witch Blood Clan Soldier spawns at the Witch Blood Clan POI in Dathomir space. 3k per kill and some very good loot. They are Tier4 targets though. If you want quicker and easier targets then Naboo station has jobs to attack close appearing spawns that are Tier 2 or 3. Good way to earn lots of loot. And its close to the Space Station if you need to repair.

But you do get loads of XP though. I've gathered about 200,000 xp from doing the first two Tier 3 missions, and the Dantooine 'Special Permission' missions so that I can land at the Dantooine Rebel base. But yes, Tier 3 needs no Xp. The missions are trial enough to earn the skill box. Great plot-lines as well for them. Great work from the Dev's

I just wish that the entireFS grind was done along the same lines as Tier 3 missions.

Ok just tried Tier 3 Mission 3 and its impossible. The actual emerging fighters are easy enough to deal with but there are at least 2 spawns close to them so they all aggro at the same time. Even in a kitted out X-Wing Im getting hammered.

Can't be impossible since I must have soloed it and can't remember having any troubles. Please post some details on the mission and what your trouble seems to be. (objectives, foes, system, etc)

This may seem difficult at first but there are ways to avoid it. Once you hit the waypoint and they start scanning for your target, blow up the first wave as fast as possible. If you can take them out before the next spawn, you can run from the waypoint and get them to spawn in a different location, away from the Tier 4 Droid Fighters and Pirates. After that, it's a piece of cake.

Well I've completed Tier 3 now. Mission 3 was all fine apart from the blasted random spawn meaning had I had a dozen fighters on me at once. A dozen Tier3's I could handle but the Tier4's and single Tier5 just blew me to smithereen's. I did try an IFF scramble and it worked to a degree but whilst dogfighting I ended up getting inadvertedly pulled closer to the Tier4's, (sneaky Pirates,) and was snuffed out again.

So I elected to take a wingman to watch my back. Enormous thanks to Relevant and his A-Wing. Relevant and I took out all of the Tier3's and the Tier4's and working as a team managed to complete Mission 3 in double time Im sure ..... in fact I know as I've seen others posts.... that its do-able solo, but I just couldn't manage it. Maybe at a later date I will try it again on another character and work out some alternate tactics.

Mission 4 I had only one problem with. That blasted Experimental Inquisition ship. When I was ambushed I either had to take out all the Tier3's and then run like buggery to the experimental ship...... or leave the Tier3's and run straight for the Experimental Interceptor. Of course that meant that I had whatever Tier3's that were leftover, straight up my backside taking free potshots, (that happened once.) I did try an IFF scramble but it didn't work, but I suppose others may well find it does in fact work.

Later on in Mission 4 whilst trying to transfer the pilot to the Gunship, (love Alliance Gunships btw, they look great,) I found that with the continuous Tier3 TIE's appearing it would have been impossible for me to Dock with the gunship and survive....well unless of course I did Emergency Shields and docked. However I didn't do Mission 4 solo either as I died several times and thought a Wingman again might help. Which it did. So special thanks to Mich and his Dunelizard.

I did give Kessel a try afterwards with Mich, and we took out a number of Tier5's. But I now have an utter hatred for the Tier5 TIE Aggressor.

Ha! You hate the Tier 5 Agressor now? Wait until Vortex tier 4, mission 2, you have to fight one along with his 9 Tier 4 friends.

The TIE Aggressor is an easy ship to drop one on one, if you know what you're doing. Obviously, thier strength is thier rearward turret. This means you can't stay on thier tail.

As soon as you get one to aggro on you, fly away fast. Try to get about 800 meters between it and yourself, with it following you. Once it starts to close distance, pull a 180 and reorient yourself on it. Target its turret and joust. It only has one forward facing gun so even a Tier 3 pilot's shield should be able to hold up to the initial attack. As soon as it gets to 570 meters, open fire and don't stop.

As soon as you pass it, hit your boosters and get away from it, using shield commands to keep your rear shield charged if nessisary(I found Capacitor to Shield Shunt 3 works best here). Two or three passes in a ship that has at least two cannons and the Aggressor's turret is disabled. All that is left now is to stay on its six and drop it.
