Say you want to swich factions. Cool, go to your recruiter, drop your faction.. That goes well....

Find a new recruiter for your chosen ne faction and sign up. Everything is going great so far.

Now, off to your new factions pilot trainer so you can travel and whatnot. Hmm.. Your new pilot trainer never mentions a free starteship deed... Ok, no worrys, finda starter chassion the bazar, and drop 10k to convert it to a deed. So far so good.

Now the game killing part...

You go to add your new ship by generating a ship from you deed... Hmm... Your at your max limit of 6 ships already... Ok.. lets just remove one of your old ships... you wont be flying them anymore anyway....

What? you cant manage any of them because your not certified?!?!?!?!? ok.. so youll just redeed one then... Nope, cant redeed them unless they are empty!!!!!!!

So now, you have no way to get any of your ships out of your datapad, and you cant add any new ships to it. Your stuck on the ground, you can never travel again using JTL, and can never go to Kashyyyk again. You have wasted all the money you spent on JTL and ROTW, and most likely are prevented from using any future expantions.

Im sure glad SOE tests stuff. Or else something like this my kill somones game... Ohh wait.. It did already....

You can destroy fighters in your datapad that you are not cert for. I know that is an expensive thing to do, but, if thats your only choice... Don't expect them to fix this, they aren't about fixing things!

CTRL-H, even had my KSE restored to me after a click-happy evening.

You should be able to remove components of uncerted ships then "deed" them again. That would give you room to put more ships. My friend changed from imperial to neutral recently and thats what he did.

This is why in the Pilot FAQ under Changing Squads, step 1 is

  1. Unload and redeed all your ships first.

CSRs will help you with this, unless you get one that lives under a rock. It's a pain in the behind, but I'm sure you won't ever be making that mistake again, at least.

So which one do i destroy?

The arc-170?

The y-8?

The heavy x-wing?

The regular x-wing with all my quest rewards and 6 months of RE-ed near perfect parts?

The Jedi fighter?

The Crimson tie?

I know your looking for a work around, but this needs to be fixed. SOE should allow people to keep what they worked for. They just need to allow you to reeded a ship and auto remove the parts. A nice "Unload All" button in the management window would be a fix, but it will never happen...

Currently you cannot even bring up the management scrren in a ship you arent certed for. So unless i want to permamnetly delete a ship that cannot be replaced, i never get to fly again.

Ohh, im sure after 3or 4 tickets i get to talk to a CSR with an IQ over 90 or so, but double xp will be gone by then. And im quite sure the one with the 92 IQ would misunderstand my requests, and destroy all my ships for me while he isattempting to be "Helpfull"...

I wouldn't be so quick to point out the low IQ of the CSRs after the stupid thing you did if I were you.

You had 6 slots loaded...of ships you can't use. What did you think would happen? Contact a CSR and kinly ask for their help in clearing a slot so that you can continue. Don't blame the CSRs because you can't read and assumed you knew how it worked.

You've got a little attitude there, ya know? You can't rant at SOE for your mistake. Buried in your ire there though is a great idea - you should promote that as a feature though, not addressing a non-existant bug.

Really, it's a good idea...

To be overly critical, it doesn't prevent you from flying ever again.

We really should get a lot more people on these boards, the FAQs and stickies are under-read.

Thats like saying its stupid to sit in a chair without testing it for an hour first.

There is no logical reason why i wouldnt be able to unload and deed a ship if its in my datapad. its my ship, my datapad. I can see not allowing me to fly it without the cert, but not allowing me to store it for a later time?

Its poor testing, and poor planing.

Would you trust a CSR with your items ingame?

CSRs didn't code the issue. Take it up with the Devs. Sure it might not have been well thought out, but that doesn't mean that its either high priority or "game destroying." Take it up with a CSR, ask nicely and you'll get it fixed. Obviously you haven't even attempted that yet.

Seriously, you are the guy who had 6 ships he couldn't use in his datapad when he quit and went to a new faction. Your presence must be getting missed in space due to your obvious courteous attitude and general brilliance.

Calm it down, be polite. No one here wants to hear youcomplain at/to them because you made a silly mistake.

Attacca,

I understand why you would see me as being slightly upset, and you are correct, I am.

I did read a guide for droping faction, and restarting another, Unfortunatly, it did not mention re-deeding any ships beforehand. With the search function on the forums gone now, i did not have an oportunity to check other sources...

Bottom line is, my game is broken, and its posible it could happen to others. My only choices are to personaly destroy a ship i worked hard to get, with very little chance of being able to replace it in a resonable amount of time, or at a reasonable amount of credits... Or to contact a csr, and risk them doing the same thing, without first making sure they understand my instructions.

Its no secret that customer service in SWG is far below parfor 99% of the mmorpgs on the market. I should not have to be happy about poor customer service, nor should the burden fall on the customer, to "prepare" for the lousy service that they are sure to get.

Im just trying to inform the people browsing the Pilot board that there is a bug, that can potentialy take 2/3rds of the game away from them for a good amount of time.

I have alredy figured out what i need to do to work around this bug for my purposes. Unfortunatly, my workaround may not help others who may see this problem in the future.

I do thank you all for the sugestions, and help you have offered, but destroying a ship is not an option for me. Just keep in mind before you attack somone with a problem, or blame them for not forseeing an obvious programing shortsight, that they may be posting for the benifit of others. They arent necessarily just ranting.

Your posts are agressive and come across as sarcastic - you don't follow the FAQs, then you blame the devs and insult the CSRs. A warning to the pilot community maybe, but we've already got that.

Here's my advice then - NICELY write a ticket, explaining exactly what happened and exactly what you need done. If possible, cite a knowledge base article number that relates to your problem. Whatever you do don't talk to them there like you talk to them here, insulting a CSR likely won't get you anything.
