Hello, this is for those out there who have had the benefit of comparing these two ships. Which do you think is better for your piloting style? The Firespray has the obvious Mass advantage but I have no idea how she handels compared to the Opp. I just got ACE last night so I've not had the chance to get up there and compare these two ships, but I'm looking for some feedback from more experienced pilots. A buddy of mine in guild says the only pilots who benefit from the Firespray are ship collectors, I'm not so sure though....

Thank you for your help.

Best,

I would say that ship collectors are the only ones that benefit because the Firespray is just a HUGE target to hit.

Sure, you have the mass, but you have this backside that is practically as noticeable as the Deathstar...

That's a good point. When fighting NPC Firespray's you can pretty much fire blindfolded and still hit that a$$.

I have no experience with an oppressor but being in an Imp guild I hear alot about them. I was given a Firespray but after flying it I agree that it is best left to the collectors and the Imp pilots I have talked to about the firespray agree that the oppressor is a better ship. I have heard that it handles better and has a better weapons load out. I flew the firespray for 2 days and after much testingdifferent configurations (I really wanted this ship to work out despite what I had heard) I gave it back to the guild for someone who would use it.Then again I am a fast light dogfighter type pilot and so are most of the pilots I know. However, as a freelancer the Krayt is way better (more firepower, better turning, and it isn't a flying wall). If it helps, I have never seen a firespray in PvP combat, DS, or Kessel, but I have seen tons of oppressors.

Probably haven't seen Firespray in those instances for the reasons you mentioned: Giant wall that doesn't handle well. (note that I am only drawing my conclusions from your guys' posts.)

annecdotally i heard the firespray has slightly better turn values than the oppressor. as the faq still lists ?s for the turn values i can't be sure until i get my hands on one to test out.

in PVP, the thing is a whale and despite a wide gun pacement i don't think it's the best choice out there. with perfect components however the thing would be fast and deadly and perhaps the most efficient imperial PVE ship.

i can't help but thinking though that you'd get hit more in PVE because of it's size and end up wasting that extra mass on armor anyway.

Hmm well for what its worth. I have a FS, and made a couple for two other pilots i knew.

My personal take (by memory). FS has about the same handling of a T/O. As i reacall it accells/decells a touch quicker and doesnt slide as much. Other than that the YPR is identical - i htink the speedx modifier is too.

Ultimtaly i redeeded that 211K mass FireSpray, put it in my house as a decoration/trophy item, and went back to my T/O. The other two pilots that i had made one for ended up doing the same.

If i had a bobbafetish, i suppose id still fly it. Its a fine ship, but it just didnt quite grab me.

Really it depends you can have fun in a firespray and not be a bobaclone or whatever the l33t JSF dudes want to call you. I find it to turn better the the oppressor. The strangest thing for me to get used to with the firespray since I am cockpit flyer (Also not generally recommended by the pwn crowd) was the weapon placement, however, when I pull out my other tie based ships have found my aimed was vastly improved by mastering the firespray and any other ship I have tried in the imperial line is much easier to fire with.

Seriously, if PVP issomething you aspire to dothen I would not recommend the FS as many other have saidit is big and round from the back, PVP in JTL is generally 1v1 so for a dogfight it is not the best ship for that use when compared to a tie model, however, if there was ever a large scale PVP battle and you had very good RE components with 2 level 10 guns, Engine, missles, etc..I think the firespray would be devasting, but that is just not JTL there are very few large scale battles.

For PVE both do just fine.

I wouldn't recommend using the Firespray in large-scale PvE against targets like an AI-equipped Tier 5 gunboat unless you've strapped weapons on there that'll down or disable it in 1-3 passes.

The AI might have a real pain hitting something as small and as fast as a Bel-22 or JSF, but as others have implied, the KSE is a HUGE target from any angle, and the turrets can hit it pretty easily.

Not to mention the KSE has a much different flying style. It's best to think of the Oppressor as a Hummer, and the KSE as an armored truck. You can use the inertia of a ship like the Opp or Krayt at full throttle to your advantage if you get the hang of knowing when to stop applying pressure so you centerline on your target. The KSE requires a lot more hands-on attention when flying, and for max maneuverability, you really have to hotkey optimal throttle settings for turns, cruise, and dogfighting.

And in the same vain as my prior analogy - POBs would be semis. Big engines, but require warning stickers when turning.

I agree wit the analogy but KSE would be more of an armored truck that has some want status in society because the FS definately has a coolness factor built into it.

JSF would be some futuristic car that drives for you.

I have flown the Oppressor, the KSE, the Advanced, the Imp Guard Interceptor and the JSF. My personal preference is the JSF, and then the Advanced. But, I have a shipwright who can make or RE me precise pieces for a load out within mass constrictions.

Firesprays really are pvp candy.

Pve..wouldn't know.

Never flown the ship, just know none have killed me in pvp.
