Hey leaph, if you wanna borrow mine ill loan it out to ya. I trust you enough to know you'll give it back whenever you've had enough of it.

That and i figure i gotta return a favor or two if you snag me a RG tie

Thanks Dumicus, but its ok...the Firespray just doesn't appeal to me. Looks stupid, is huge.

The biggest ship I'll be caugh flying is an Advanced X-wing. Thats as sluggish as I'll go.

As for the RG TIE, don't worry about it. I don't expect anything in return for favours. Never have done..I'm a Brit, we're like that. In fact..all you could do for me is present me with a simply terrifying target in Deepspace since even scoring damage on a n00b in an RG TIE can take a while sometimes with me A-wing ...so in your hands and since you're a fan of the T/I anyway..I'm sure you'll send me home crying .

Sorta off topic but sorta on it too. I know the KSE sucks in PvP and all Imps either fly the JSF, RG or Opp. Now I'm reb so wouldn't really know, but, regarding PvP wouldn't the Tie Ad, be better than the Opp as we rarely get chance to use missiles in PvP unless you're packing I'rs. So my question is, why doen't more imps fly the Ad in PvP. I think i can safely say, i've never killed a player Tie Ad in PvP. I've killed everything else, even a Bomber but not the Ad. I'd really like to see one too. if old Darthy spent time developing this, surely it's gonna be a decent boat. If I was imp (perish the thought) I think it would be my choice of ship, other than the JSF which I fly, when I'm not in My B-wing or Heavy X-Wing Am I missing something with the Tie Ad? Why don't people fly this pretty ship?

The main disadvantage of the Firespray is the HUGE target it presents. The secondary disadvantage for a Imperial pilot is only having 2 missile slots, but that is only an issue for those who use the Opp as a missile boat.

The advantage of the Firespray (besides the mass) is the firing pattern in my opinion. The Firespray's pattern is a verticle rectangle, for comparision the TIE/Intercepter is a horizontal rectangle, and the Firespray's pattern is slightly tighter then the Intercepter's. The firing pattern on the Firespray is also below center of the ship, which in my experience makes it easier to target A-wings as the targetting recticle is the sweet spot now. When following a ship, its almost impossible to miss given botl arrangement: to miss an A-wing they have to be perfectly between the 4 bolts, as the pattern is just barely bigger then an A-wing, any movement will clip your target (thus my not-so steady hands are an advantage for once). JSFs are easier to miss due to their smaller profile. In a head-to-head in-counter, rolling a Firespray while firing produces a vertible wall of blaster bolts.

Pre-RotW, the Advanced was my perfered PvP dogfighter ship. Post-RotW, its the TIE Heavy or JSF.

the advanced is the Imp a-wing... before the JSF, Bel-22, and heavy ties that was the primary dogfighter. I know that on starsider during mass pvp battles, we use oppressors as missile support with 3 IR2's. It is a sound tactic and icorporates those pilots that like that style of combat. Most Imp pilots on starsider fly either heavy ties or something that looks similar(not sure because I am a freelancer), since our mass battles take place outside of DS. I think Tomo and I are the only ones on the Imp side that fly JSF and there are only a few that fly them on the rebel side.

main reason people don't fly it:

JSF/Grevious/Heavy Tie

65k mass is just a bit too tight to be efficient in PVP and PVE in deep space. It's a great ship, don't get me wrong, it's just that the JSF/Grievious have 25k more mass, the same amount of gun points and have turn rates twice as fast. not to mention they are smaller profile ships. Prior to ROTW you'd see the occasional tie advanced in DS, I fought a 4 or 5 people in there frequently with my nuetral alt.

I would expect the advanced to get a boost sometime soon, to the point where it's competitive with the ROTW ships in terms of YPR at least (althought not quite as good), and likely having 80-85k mass.

I have a JSF myself, but I still see opps in DS. Just seems weird that if you didn't have the JSF/B-22/RG, then why fly an Opp, when you can fly the TIE Ad? Unless you pack Ir's ass I said, then the opp isn't the option i would go for, and even if you do have IR's, you still need to manouver to get the lock in order to fire the things. I'd still like to see an imp in one on chimaera though, never seeen a player Ad yet

i always fly an oppressor now. imo the trade off to using a lighter ship isn't worth it.

1.) they aren't efficient in PVE and PVP is not a 24/7 thing on any server, even starsider as far as I can see. So in between PVP breaks I want something that will take out a gunboat in 20 seconds.

2) you can make any ship work in PVP if you are tenacious enough with it, even if it does have disadvantages. (ok some disadvantages are bigger than others )

3) it's a pyschological advantage over your opponent if you beat them while they might be in a "superior" ship.

Nah, DS on Starsider is mostly pretty dead. The RP pilots set up events outside DS mostly, and only a few times in my going to DS have I ever found more than maybe 1 other pilot in the zone. Once there were 3 HTies flying support of each other (good thing too, they were crappy pilots ) and that's about it. I did a /who last night and got 4 names and was excited... till I targetted the player flown Decimator and all 4 player names went poof from the zone about 3 shots later.

Because of that, I pretty much live in my Advanced X-Wing, as its far more efficient at killing in PVE than the Belbullab. Since PVP is maybe 1 out of hundred engagements with my ship, it just makes more sense.

KSE kicks but , big time. I got a 4k max damage laser with 70 vs. shields and armor , and a 3k laser 70 vs shields, and some nice RE parts in it. My second choice is the JSF, got a 103.1 max speed engine in it, and with engine over load it's just fun to zip around in.

The Heavy TIE is appalling in PvP. Its a huge target when you get faced with those big solar panels. It needs that uber r,p,y acceleration just so you can get out of the way of people's shots.

The TIE Advanced is awesome but chin mounted cannons are hard to hit with. Also it has two gun mounts, but I only ever used one in favour of a better engine. In my oppinion, going on the basis that I've flown both, the A-wing is a superior ship to me even though both ships are seen as 'equivelants'. In fact..the A-wing is like a nice compromise between the TIE Advanced and the TIE Interceptor [standard].

The TIE Oppressor is deadly as hell in pvp when packing IR ii's and in a turning figt, with a high r,p,y engine can basically pivot on the spot so effectively you're always facing your opponent. I always was wary in pvp against TIE Oppressors due to these reasons when flying my A-wing.

The RG TIE....is the best pvp ship in the game IMO and even though I'm soley a Rebel now [ditched my imp alt a while back] I stick by this. The r,p,y acceleration is good, it's engineX multiplier is the same as an A-wing, it's hitbox is so small even a new pilot is hard to take down if they're in one and with 80k mass you can fit in a lvl 8 shield, engine, gun no problem. The hitbox actually only covers the upper part of the ball cockpit which is scary to be honest, plus ok it has one weapon slot but it fires that weapon from 4 points therefore giving excellent coverage. The RG TIE has the smallest ship hitbox in the game too. If I were Imperial, I'd probably fly one of these soley.

Get the RG TIE, get the nym starmap engine , get alvl 8 gun or use the ionic pulse weapon from the heavy ship quest and stick in a t4 reward shield or even a mk IV crafted shield...you won't be dying soon.

If the Imperials did this ^ on Bria, then I'd be dying a lot more. JSF really are overrated.

Hmm well for what its worth. I have a FS, and made a couple for two other pilots i knew.

My personal take (by memory). FS has about the same handling of a T/O. As i reacall it accells/decells a touch quicker and doesnt slide as much. Other than that the YPR is identical - i htink the speedx modifier is too.

Ultimtaly i redeeded that 211K mass FireSpray, put it in my house as a decoration/trophy item, and went back to my T/O. The other two pilots that i had made one for ended up doing the same.

If i had a bobbafetish, i suppose id still fly it. Its a fine ship, but it just didnt quite grab me.

Pretty much my experience too.

There are a few advantages with the FS over the Opp, mostly around Mass, but I still prefer the Opp. In PvP, the FS does have one thing going for it over the Opp, and that is the convergance factor so many complain about in PvE...you have a bigger target spead, I personally do not thinks it makes of for the large rear end, but it is another data point
