- Capital ships have been programmed and are more or less ready but SOE still needs to find a way of introducing them into the game without breaking everything else
Taken from this post, which is a review of the most recent FanFest in Leipzig, Germany.
So...How many people think there will be a sudden influx of giant capital ships patrolling the Galaxy making people lagg and get pissed in general?

Ever the cynic that i be.
Ill make this wager:
Capital ships will:
a.) Be nothing but a glorfied deci/nova/YT and about as equally as "useful" as said ships.
b.) will break something, and whatever it breaks will go unfixed for months upon months. Either in itself, or some other aspect of JTL. [Seriously, even adjustments not inteded for space can be felt in space. THe CU for example screwed up the Rebel station (or sometime there abouts), their last UI improvements not meant for us skewed the component quickview, now we cant view or cargo holds, etc.]

hopefully they will tune down the nebula/lightning to make up for the increase of space traffic lag.

At least they've come to admit they're particularly adept at breaking things.

Thats a client side adjusment i beleive. Its nice when you havea 64 bit processor, i have cranked mine to the max, space looks ppuuuuurrrrttyyyy

I have my graphics turned down almost all the way, but I've also read alot of complaints about nebula/lightning on another thread. I was just hoping dev's could tune it down a bit to satisfy the masses, but I know how the dev story goes
Turning down graphics to let people enjoy the game on their current computer systems would make more sense than to make everyone spend money to upgrade.
sorry to rant, i know it probably doesn't belong on this thread.....gonna stop beating this dead horse now....

Nothing can measure up to ISD lag IMO. I personally wouldn't mind overpowered cap ships. That's how they are SUPPOSED to be. Judging by the current POB ships, I don't think we have anything to worry about, other than the devs making cap ships irreplaceable and uncraftable.

Hehe, no kidding Kalia.
It's amazing how they can change things on the ground and manage to break space.

Not trying to be knit-picky here, but your 64-bit CPU doesn't contrbute anything to 32-bit code. Don't matter if you're running XP x64 or not. It's almost all about the video card and the cache.
Ah heck, I was being knit-picky.

That new fangled stuff is out of mah budget!
Anyway, nebula, i think its a client side issue. Although they could add more graphical options for space to add further flexiblity for the end user. Of course, getting sony to do anything for space is tantamount to pulling teeth.
