I'm sure it's client side - just seems odd that, considering how many options for graphic control the ground game has, space has so little.

And back to the post at the top, can I pick C - both of the above?

hate bring your thunder further but i run this game nearly at full res with an athlon 1600 cpu and win 2k with svc pack 4
256mb graphics card and gig of 400mhz ccr ram dual channel on an n-force 2 ultra mobo

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

Funny thing about hardware, once you mention it, everyones gotta compare

Yup. Personally, I think this will be interesting, however it turns out.

As for my hardware...Umm...It bytes.

OOO, bad pun!

what thunder?

Ive allways known that more ram and video is more important than a faster processor.

Though to steal some thunder back. AMD 64 chips will PWN a standard athlon on overall performance till the cows come home. All thanks to that built in memory controller...

Untill you compare performance on both youll not know the difference. I got a athlon xp 1700 sitting next to me now that i run my second account on. And the performance difference is noticeable.

The real kick is how you use your graphics. If your card is set to performance settings then i would hope its running smooth. But turn every single feature on in your graphics card and crank the client up and lets see how far it gets.

To me it all boils down to how much shiny graphics i can pump out without dropping constantly below 15fps. And at the momment with card set to Max quality and game settings cranked i can hold a decent 24fps. With no OC on the card.

But i built this comp to do sound editing not play games. Next year ill build my gaming rig.

Thats why i have 2 gigs of pc 3600 ram with a 9800 pro. Not the greatest by todays standards but it does the job when your on a budget.

My old box was a 2GHz AMD 2400 chip. Now this AMD64 3000 im using now is only rated at 1.8 GHZ, but it blows the 2400 out of the water on everything ive ran both chips on. Theres really no contest between the two. When i can afford it, im upgrading to a higher end AMD64, the 3000 model was to hold me over tell i can afford better.

Nice setup. My 64 3000 is a 2.0 gig. The thing that makes them so great is the memory controller. It allows you to run less than speedy ram at fast levels. That and the 1600 mhz hyper transport. The 9800 is just a underated video card nowadays. With the right tools it can get some impressive speeds for the price.

As for the original topic. Im glad to hear theyre still looking into getting the capitol ship stuff in. Also glad that they realise that theyre likely to screw up something if they rush to it. Hopefully it wont be to bad when it finally launches.

Yeah, bet you're right. BTW, this thread seems to have been hijacked in the name of computer hardware, let's leave.

bet it's 8 months before we see them. that's a serious estimate. let's not get too excited with all this hardware and zone lag talk. it'll be a major expansion and lucasarts will have to green light it. what kind of content do you think lucasarts is green lighting at the moment and in the foreseeable future? i wouldn't even count on it for the expansion after mustafarm to be honest.

Ill make this wager:

Capital ships will:
a.) Be nothing but a glorfied deci/nova/YT and about as equally as "useful" as said ships.

b.) will break something, and whatever it breaks will go unfixed for months upon months. Either in itself, or some other aspect of JTL. [Seriously, even adjustments not inteded for space can be felt in space. THe CU for example screwed up the Rebel station (or sometime there abouts), their last UI improvements not meant for us skewed the component quickview, now we cant view or cargo holds, etc.]

Do to all the traffic in space(the captial ships and all) The sky will start to fall on most planets. Weapons will only do 1DSP and a lvl 1 nuna will be able to kill a full templated jedi master with 1 hit.

The end is here. Are you ready?
