Thread: Am I just wierd or...?

I'm sitting here feeling curious as ever about people's oppinions and this just cropped up in my head. Does anyone these days, when engaged in PvE make themselves fly 'worse' at times so as to make it more of a challenge? Sounds odd I know, but what I mean is, for example with gunboats. Rather than trailing behind them and blasting them apart from a safe angle/distance, does anyone prefer just to zip round and round them, exposing themselves to fire while killing them? I find I am doing this almost always now unless I'm helping someone. My latest quirk is going after the corvette and not killing guns at all, approaching from the top and seeing if I can avoid getting hit.

Its just that I was thinking...well ok, we know how to bring things down without getting so much of a scratch, but if we want to make things more challenging..why not 'create' the challenge by ignoring everything we've learned, flushing efficiency down the pan and adopting total wrecklessness as our mantra?

I guess 'worse' is the wrong word to use. More accurately, I should say, intentionally opening yourself up to enemy fire in order to make use of counter manouvering excersise.

I like buzzing bungoats. I find if I'm babysitting a lower level pilot, it eneables them to hammer away at the GB if I'm flying circles and strafing it. Other than that, I fly casual when doing the ISD, I like to follow the superstructure, just to see how much slide I get, when I turn up to the bridge again. That's about as sloppy as i get though.

I dont think it is odd. Doing things the "game way" (sitting off and sniping gunboats that wont attack back) isnt always the "fun" way to do things, but it works... I, quite often actually, try to do things in a more realisitc manner (strafing, buzzing, etc)...

For me it makes things a little more fun. It isnt always about winning - sometimes it's about pushing the envelope and seeing just how 'good' you really are!...

I do that sometimes with gunboats, when I'm waiting for targets to zone into DS. I also play with vettes, it's fun to attack them without taking out any turrets and try to destroy them as fast as possible with just guns.

What's really fun is to dive into a nest of T4 NPC's and fly against them like they're all players, so instead of flying worse I get to practice evading. Takes forever to kill since you can't afford to get hit once, lots of fun and evasion though!

i always strafe gunboats, i go head on and blast, its fun, sitting behind at 545m gets boring,i like to mix it up

and why is it that I get killed more by corvettes then by the ISD, that thing can't hit the broadside of an x wing, and my a wing flys circles around its blasters

When I get tired of the same old thing I got mess around on another server in some pilot squadron I haven't done yet. Usually it's quit a challenge starting out in those starter ships again.

the only problem with that is the tier 1 set of missions you have to do before u can get box 1. takes forever just to fly from a to b. slays me.

I do everything I can to get a level 1 booster on my starter ships before I do many of the mission. This usually involved killing a bunch of tier 1s to look for a lighter reactor and some other lighter parts. The prototype parts are all 1500 mass so it's not that hard to find lower mass stuff.

Yup, I fly around and at GBs all the time, and when taking the Corv out I usually strip all its guns before going after the reactor (no missiles either).

For real fun, you can strip of all the ISDs guns 1 by 1. That way you can marvel at teh amazing guns that fire from inside the beast.
