Thread: FP in space as a privateer

Hi,

I was wondering how you can get faction points in space (imp fp that is) when you are a freelancer pilot.

As i can understand from the FAQ, you first got to declare yourself to an imp station in space. I tried that, but it doesn't let me talk to it.

I also went into deep space, choosing the imp side, but again, i don't get any fp.

Anyone know how to get fp ? Or is it just impossible as a privateer ?

thx

Sure it is possible! First, make sure you dont have any space missions... (you cannot get FP as a privateer while on a mission)... Next, head to the appropriate Faction Space Station (use your space map to find them) and /comm with the station and choose to go overt...

This will make you PvP able though - and not just in Kessel/DS...

Something fun to do, as a priv, is to help out rebs/imps doing their pilot missions (while being overt)... you get a lot of good fp as a result.

You can in Kessel - but you need to /comm with the appropriate faction station, not the neutral one in dath.

The reason you can't get into deep space is that the station checks for your faction prestige, which is zero. There is no such check for going to Kessel.

Of course, they could friggin' fix this if they just eliminated the goddamned "option" at the Last Nav and allowed you to declare through the ISD/Freedom Station.

Ok - so I see there is some confusion here...

Privateers CAN get FP in Deep Space. You have to declare a faction PRIOR to entering Deep Space.

Of course, entering Deep Space is dependant on you being a MASTER PILOT.

A non-Master pilot can get FP in space by:

1. Going OVERT (by visiting the appropriate Faction based Space Station)

2. See 1.

By going overt... a privateer pilot can:

1. Hunt faction based NPC crafts for FP (IE. Rebel Space Station in Lok System, Rebel Frigate in Endor, etc)

2. Hunt other players in any zone the privateer can access (normal space and kessel space versus other OVERT pilots of opposing faction).

So in summary...

Space is a GREAT place to get faction. You do not need to go to Deep Space... You do not need to be a master pilot. You have to declare a side and go OVERT... Some privateer squadrons can go either way while the RSF (Naboo) MUST go Imperial.

I hope this helps -

Sorry, but people have already tried saying that this is wrong. You can go Overt in space as a Freelancers and earn FP, and you can go to Deep Space as a Freelancer by choosing a side in the GCW, but you can not go Overt and then enter Deep Space if you are a Freelancer.

Freelancers can earn FP in any Space Sector except DS (since, as stated, there is not way to be space-Overt in DS as a Freelancer). Freelancers can earn FP on missions, assuming the mission is against the opposite faction. Do this by going Overt in space before starting your mission - if your mission starts when you enter a certain sector, you will need to launch and Declare Overt in other sectors, then enter the mission sector once you are Overt.

Kessel is the preferred place for many Freelancers to get FP, but it is much easier for Rebel Pilots to earn FP there than Imp Pilots (due to the number of Imp NPCs far outweighing the number the Rebel NPCs).

This is also incorrect, as it is entirely possible to be an RSF/Rebel Pilot. If you are such, you are only given the option to enter DS as a Rebel (and you are still susceptible to the Overt-in-Kessel-after-DS bug). I will say that it can be a headache to be an RSF/Rebel, but that does not mean it isn't possible.

I am 99% sure I have earned FP in DS as a privateer... /shrug/ I cant check it right now- due to lack of access =/

Regarding the Naboo priv squadron... they are aligned with the Empire and CANNOT choose to side w/ the Rebels. I am 100% on that.

Now, I am Imperial on the ground and RSF in space (sue me, I like the YT1300 and landing at the Emp Retreat)... and have never had the option of siding w/ the Rebellion in space (DS). The RSF takes their MASTER Missions from an Imperial Grand Admiral (in the Palace)... and when I go to the DS station, I am offered the Empire only. Is this because I went to the Imperial DS entry point (and not the rebel)?

If that is the case - oops my bad.

The problem is that there is no way to do that. Freelancers can not enter DS through Imp's Claw or Rebel's Dant DS Station, so they must enter DS through Dathomir. Dath Station will not talk to Overts. Therefore, Freelancers can not enter DS as Overts and can not earn FP in DS. Freelancers can enter Kessel through Claw/Dant Station because there is no Faction Prestige Check for Kessel, so they can enter Overt and earn FP in Kessel.

Being Factioned on the Ground changes things with Freelance Pilots. Because you were RSF, the default is that you can not shoot Rebel NPCs. It's because you are Imp Ground that you can only enter DS as an Imperial. For all Freelance/Faction choices, you can not enter DS as the opposite of your Ground Faction.

As RSF, though, you CAN shoot Imperial ships in space if you are Rebel Ground and you declare in Space. Going Overt will override the default RSF behavior and make you Rebel aligned. This works for RSFs in Kessel, too.

You have that wrong, RSF is Imperial aligned; Smuggler's Alliance is Rebel aligned. Anyways, what you said about Deepspace is correct. If as a freelance pilot you try to go Overt, and then talk to the Last Nav station in Dathomir, it will not let you enter deepspace because it sees you as belonging to a faction, not being freelance. And the faction Deepspace stations wont let you in because you don't have the faction prestige for it. In summary, Freelance pilots are SOL when it comes to getting faction points in Deepspace, which is really too bad because Deepspace is a great place to get points.

Where exactly am I wrong, and how exactly is SA Rebel aligned? They go after the Star Ravager, yes, but that one mission does not otherwise affect how SA relates to Rebel and Imperial NPCs in space.
