I know its a newbie question, but I just hear all this talk of "ace" pilots. Is it the same as master pilot?

Since Kessel becamea PvE zone, I don't think anyone that earns the master box should be rewarded the title Ace Pilot anymore.

A gawd, not that old argument again. Geez thats older than dirt.
Loadkilling noobs in kessel does not an ace make.

Personally, I think "Ace" should apply only to people with 25 or more player kills. But we don't have a player PvP ranking system in JtL.

Actually , according to the xwing books, ACE status is given to squadron members that have 5 combat kills.

Meh. Like it matters. I didn't feel like a real "Ace" until my 5th PvP combat kill, and in reality, it was more like number 8 or so, the first 2 or 3 were more like "I shot before they saw me" affairs. Nice to not be on the other end of that, but in reality, unless the other guy has a chance to react, it's more like an assassination than a "V". "Ace" is something other players call you, in game title, or no title. There areseveral pilots I respectfully call "Ace" that began their pilot careers long after Kessel went PVE. I have mastered both Alliance, and Imperial professions, on Kauri (Lowy- Alliance), and Wanderhome (Feulef Stebillo- Imperial). I have had the previledge to fly with, and against some outstanding sim pilots on both servers. Never once, when I have encountered a skilled pilot did I ask "yeah, you're good, but did you make master when Kessel was PVP?". The question, and answer both are of zero significance.

To me an "Ace" pilot is someone who not only has achieved their master box but also has excelled at PvE combat. They are also there to help out their mates.
Only reason I don't include PvP is the fact that I could spent a helluva long time in DeepSpace without seeing another pilot.

title freelancers get: "Master pilot"
title rebels get: "Alliance Ace pilot"
title imps get :(who cares
)
this is why master and ace are interchangable.

You're an ace pilot if you go up to help friend with a mission, and afterwards they either:
A:are mad at you for destroying everything before they can blink and taking all thier fun
or
B: propose marrage.

My squadron differentiates between those who mastered before the Kessel change and after. There are 1st generation are the ones who finished before the change. The second generation mastered when the devs messed up NPC speed and maneuvering and made them crazy. The current generation is the third where everyone has access to good parts and help from people of previous generations.
The first generation automatically got Ace status and the later generations need player kills. Otherwise they are just masters.

Isnt that true, ppl go and aske me for help, especially in my guild, and then get mad because I kill everything I see.
I have the only master pilots in the guild, 1 corsec and 1 rebel, so I can help anyone.
but after helping them once, i get hte, nm i can do it myself routine, till they get to a very hard mission.
