In real life the Ace title is given after 5 confirmed air to air kills. So it follows that Star Wars would be the same.

I would like to see a system where a master cant use the Ace title unless they have 5pvp kills. Maybe have master pilot title only.

Maybe each kill would decay after a week or something so you cant just kill 5 imps and wear it forever.

This alone would be a small reason to go to deep space for some people.

And if you need to concentrate on the ground game for a while, no worries. You just lose a title after all. No big deal you can get it back again later.

I've yet to have anyone get mad at me for making a mission too easy.

Though, i know of others that have had it happen to them. I always find it quite funny.

Hello.

I'll tell you whatI thinkan ace pilot is.

An ace pilot is a pilot with exceedingly good skill in space, an expert knowledge of their ship and how mature they are in pvp and pve. [I.e no flaming etc loadkilling].

An ace pilot holds the respect of more than one of their own faction and also of their enemies.

I believe there is nothingwrong in saying that you are good or promoting yourself...you just got to then let your flying do the talking too in order to back you up.

P.s

At the very least a master pilot/ace pilot should be able to solo the corvette. I mean, it isn't hard when you know how and where to attack from. It is however exceedingly difficult if you don't which is why i sympathise with new pilots who when they do the vette for the first time on their master mission they may need/want some help. We all got to learn sometime and noone is perfect...not even me..by a very long shot...like..about 100000 miles

I agree with Leaph.

Its the knowledge you have and the way you act is what makes someone an ace.

Back when Kessel was PvP enabled I killed a few guys while there, this was before the slight reduction in PvP damage.

Back then there wasn't a whole lot of skill involved in nailing someone in PvP, it was who saw who first. In regard to this I'm not talking about set up fights or duels, just the random encounters.

I agree that just because someone did not master pilot while Kessel was still PvP...I barely got JTL before they changed it...that does not preclude them from being an ace. I wish I could have mastered in the PvP environment of Kessel it sounded like fun and I was pissed even at Tier 1 with the learning curve and all that I wouldn't get any player challenge on my master mission. An ace pilot is one that as others have said can do things like solo any tier 4 mission, take the vette solo with out a scratch to the armor, has a high win to loss ratio in PvP. I agree with the poster above who said that 5 kills should net you an ace title for a week. There would be a great and likely easy to code incentive to get more people out PvPing. We already have a ground PvP rating. Why can't our wins/losses be counted and say if you can keep at least 5 more wins than losses or a win/loss ratio of .75 or higher you get the "ace" title

Never have I loadkilled, I have been loadkilled, it came with the territory. I enjoyed being attacked by rebel players on my vette mission. Made it seem like it was that much more of an accomplishment than going there, taking out a couple npc's that never even get a shot off on me, then destroying the corvette.

I am absoltely amazed that the pre kessel nerf elitist attitude is still around. I thought that died off months ago. Human nature i suppose, people like to feel good about themselves, and they usually have to chastize and demean other people to do it in some sort of pseduo superiority complex. Pretty shallow of character if you ask me.

I remember well the posts of these minority group of players pleading for special treatment by sony. It was laughable at best. Most of what i saw on my server nothing more than people loadkilling going , "HA HA i pwned u noob". This is an ace? Hardly. Ive been playing JTL since launch, and even played some of the Beta, i know the score of what went down. So coming up with this elist garbage flies about as well as a lead ballon in my book.

To those people i have three final words:

Your're not special.

And you ASSumed that no one does this overt anymore, and that no one has had to fend off player pilots while doing thier vette mission. Why would these people not fit into the catagory of Ace?

Sounds like you either 1) Are really upset you can't gank people anymore, or 2) got ganked so much you want revenge. Drop this crap, you just keep looking like an ass. Oh, and yes, I am an Ace by your standards.

Meh. Like it matters. I didn't feel like a real "Ace" until my 5th PvP combat kill, and in reality, it was more like number 8 or so, the first 2 or 3 were more like "I shot before they saw me" affairs. Nice to not be on the other end of that, but in reality, unless the other guy has a chance to react, it's more like an assassination than a "V". "Ace" is something other players call you, in game title, or no title. There are several pilots I respectfully call "Ace" that began their pilot careers long after Kessel went PVE. I have mastered both Alliance, and Imperial professions, on Kauri (Lowy- Alliance), and Wanderhome (Feulef Stebillo- Imperial). I have had the previledge to fly with, and against some outstanding sim pilots on both servers. Never once, when I have encountered a skilled pilot did I ask "yeah, you're good, but did you make master when Kessel was PVP?". The question, and answer both are of zero significance.

You know in real life, most aces made most of their kills before the other person saw them. From Max Immelmann, the Richthofen brothers and Rickenbaker to the Black Sheep, Yekaterina Vasilyevna Budanova and Erich Alfred "Bubi" Hartmann, they all learned the single most important thing to winning a dogfight...shoot first before they see you.

This is why they rode high and came out of the sun.

As for the Kessel Debate, I've done corvette missions both ways and I would have liked the PvP way if the load spot hadn't been camped by a child who stayed there the whole time. I died six times trying to get back, mostly because my comp is slow and I usually got killed before I could even start fighting back. I think this is sadly, the reason PvP was taken away from Kessel, and what interests me is I remembered the name of the child that was load camping and have seen them post numerous times on the issue of load camping, speaking out on how bad it was. I never called him on it, because a flamewar isn't something I'm interested in, but I think this might be true about most people, that they load camp, know it's bad form, yet never admit they do...in fact they often speak out most vocally against it.

I recently did a corvette mission for a friend and I kind of missed that it wasn't PvP for it was fun before the whole loadcamping child started in...for several minutes it was space ablaze with guns and filled with fighters and I even got a couple PvP kills until I was creamed by a great pilot that picked me off while I was being lured, I suspect, by his wingman. I loved that, and think it would be cool to have something like that, but I also remember the ten minutes of loading, getting killed, having to get repaired, redeclared and hyp back in to get killed and have to repeat it. I've met and flown with a number of great and honorable pilots, it's just too bad the few bad ones seem to overshadow the good.

I think attitude and experience speak more for the title ace than a number of kills or whether you mastered when Kessel was PvP. I did my first Corvette when it was PvP, but failed and the next night it went PvE, so I didn't have the chance, so I guess I can never be one of those, but I also know an imp guild on my server that had so camped Kessel, mastering for their people was pretty easy since they had people camped at the rebel entry points to prevent any real opposition to come to the Corvette's aid. So I think the whole mastering when Kessel was PvP means you are a better pilot is a flawed argument. There are a lot of imp "Aces" on my server who mastered when it was PvP only because they had a large number of guildmates unlevelling the playing field to make it easy for them. If you really want to go down that road, how about you are only an ace if you soloed the Corvette to master and all your missions as well? Sorry to ramble on, but this whole attitude is so childish and seems to be more a statement of the person's insecurity and need to belittle others to make themselves feel superior.

If you want to know what I really feel should give you an Ace title in both spirit and substance, I think you should get the master title after you do the corvette and the Ace title after you help five people, who aren't in your guild do the corvette. I know it's kind of an odd standard, but all the great pilots who I've met in this game share one attribute, the willingness to help complete strangers with their mission. The corvette mission I did with my friend the other night was done with a splendid, pick up group she got from spamming for help. It included about 5 master pilots who were not only great pilots, but helpful as well.

Well I have mastered 4 Pilot profs, soloed a corvette (without dying and coming back), helped loads of people with either components or flying and my PVP record is 10-1 (one of which was me in a Y-Wing vs. an Oppressor hehe I bet he is still shaking his head). Do I get to be an ACE even though I mastered after Kessel was PVE?
