Am i the only one who discovered that the Imp Ace Pilot Mission is a lot easier than Reb Ace Pilot Mission??

Well what do you think about it?

I think that maybe the imperial got that little extra help my calling Bomb Squads wich is a couples of Tier 5's helping with the vette..

But can it be all?? Or is it just because the Imperial Corvette is more armored than the Rebel Corvette?

Neither 'vette "has more armor" but I agree with your basic premise.

Imps have it far easier. Bstrike is major potent and requires no skill. Rebel gunboats are big soft space poodles. The fighter escort is about as deadly as a Uhaul with 2 flat tires.

Compare to Rebels. No useful offensive specials, and only IFF scramble is truly handy. Imp gunboats are easy when you know how, but have more guns and smaller blindspots even so. The fighter escort is actually quite lethal, unless you have a couple skilled Aggressor hunters in your crew.

ive done all 3 and of the 2 faction missions imp was by far easier. however the easyest is to be a neutral attacking the rebel vett. get some imp master pilots and stay out of the group. after they beat up the vett move in for the kill while its not agressive(yea i know its a cheap move, and dont say i stole their kill, we all came up with this plan ahead of time)

The imperial version IS easier, however it is not because of bomberstrike.

Infact, i took the vette out for someone the other day in no more than 5 to 8 minutes and i fumbled my Bstrike- i didnt use it.

The imperial mission is easier primarly for 2 reasons:

1.) The imperials dont have to deal with turreted fighters like the Tie Aggressor while clearing the fighter screen.

2.) Rebel gunboats have a bindspot the size of damn starport. Anywhere UNDER and behind a rebel gunboat it can't touch you. At all. Imperial gunboats the rear gun does ahve a 20degree or so downward firing arch, making its blindspot much more narrower.

Only 2 diferences, everything else is identical. Bomber strike? Not needed, at all, its not even a factor to me.

There's a third difference, Ducimus - we Imperials only have to contend with 18 turrets (twelve on the vette, three apiece on both the gunboats).

Rebels have to contend with 26 (not counting the ones on the few Aggressors), since the Ye-4s have seven apiece, and their blind spot is the size of a postage stamp in addition to having uniform 360-degree turret coverage.

Which is weird, cause the Y-wing is a turreted ship, isn't it? But not for the AI I guess.

I actually want the Y-Wing to have a working turret - that way the prominent Rebel pilots on my server can't tell me I have it easier than them.

Meh, turret count doesnt seem very relivant in my mind.

Sure the imperial gunboats have more turrets on them. But the ammount is irrelvant if you
a.) hit GB in its blind spot
or
b.) hit it trailing about 550 meters.

Aggressors i already noted, thats differernt as those turrets are very mobile, and force you to joust the fighter upon which they are attached to

Turrets on the vette is irrelivant to me as well. I dont care if every single turret (except for No 5) is still up. A few missles at its subcomponents while parked behind the vette and its a done deal, i dont ahve to worry about them at all, they are irrelvant unless the vette turns on me.

The escorts don't really matter much ... hit the vette until you knock out the engines (Shields, backup shields, engines) ... wait for escort to leave.

Imp is still easier (I have done them all). Imp is also easier to grind FP in Deep Space IMO.

Yep, TIE jockeys definitely have it easier. Rebel fighters (A-wing aside) have a larger hull, making them easier targets to hit. Add to that that no Rebel snubfighter has a rear-firing gun, and suddenly the Imperial side seems a lot easier. Add in the uber /bomberstrike and suddenly the corvette becomes an absolute joke...

So does that mean Rebels are better pilots?

(I know there are some very good IMP ones...just a hasty generalization)

No, just means that the ones who suck don't get master as easy.

As much as im sure ppl dont want to hear it, i think imperial pilot produces better pilots. The biggest reason of which is your forced to work with low mass chassis, and comparitlvy lower firepower for most of your time going up the pilot tree.

In the past, (and probably still) alot of rebel pilots scoffed at the idea of a 40K, 50K, and 65K mass chassis, and even "petitioned" for a mass increase in the already 100K mass xwing.
