Thread: What is everyone's thought on an ideal Priv PvP fighter chassis?

I've been using a Rihxyrk, but I'm finding that the yaw, pitch and roll just can't keep up with all the level 5 TIE's and player ships.

What's everyone's take on the best PvP ship for Privateers?

I am still searching for overt rebel fliers to fight, so when I find one I'll let you know. Personally, I'm overt all the time, so I don't understand why it's so difficult finding someone to shoot.

I'm a Naboo-based ace pilot in the RSF ranks, and have been going up most often in the Ixyen (medium) fighter. It supports 96k mass and is extremely maneuverable as well.....2 sets of cannons, a slot for rockets (I do not use them), and one slot for countermeasures (I use sensor decoys for avoiding missiles).

Run reactor overload 4, engine overload 3, capacitor overcharge 4, and weapon overload 3.....and have shield shunt 3 & 4 available for those rougher rides.

I am also in the process of reconfiguring my Kihraxz (light) black sun into a PvP challenger. One or two shots will destroy you regardless of which ship you are piloting, so why not just get into a smaller-sillouette fighter to make you harder to hit? *Avoiding* blaster and missile fire seems to be the best (and only) way to survive a PvP encounter, so this tiny little 40k mass Kihraxz fighter project may turn into my primary PvP weapon. I'm running a tier-2 engine that offers 76.6 speed (99.4 with overclocking), 66.4 yaw & roll, 69.1 pitch rating. With this engine, if a T5 A-Wing starts shooting at me, I pull back on the stick and suddenly I'm parked on their rear bumper. This thing is no joke.

Oh, and just forget about armor - you can use that space for heavier guns, shields, whatever. Just remember that by the time they get through your shields, it's already too late.

I would definitely go with the Dunelizard--handling's close to the top TIEs and it still has a fair amount of mass. Or if you're in a pioneering spirit, try to set up a Kihraxz for PVP. 40K mass is almost stupid to try to work with, true enough, but if you went with a setup like 10K for an RE'd level 6 reward engine, 15K for level 7 shields, then 6K for a level 5 or 10K for a level 6 gun, that leaves you with 5-9K for boosters, armor, droid interface, capacitor, countermeasures, etc. Certainly enough to fly--and with that profile and some of the best handling in the game, I think you could be one cold killer even with such a light arms loadout.

It really depends on your playstyle and how you fight.

Some people prefer the fast, hypermanuverable ships, others prefer bombers that can take a beating, others prefer multirole craft. Then there's those that just wanna use iconicships for aesthetic value, and not because they know how to fly them.I think the ideal ship is the one you're most comfortable in and/or do best in.

Ya for privateer, fast, good handling

Load the largest energy cap you can , run cap overload 4, and shunt 4, I think I am over 2700 energy in cap at rest (from memory could be wrong) . This should keep ya in the fight longer than 2-3 shots, maybe even 2 to 3 rounds lol

That and a nice RE'd LVL 10 engine. 80+'s YPR and 90+'s speed. A huge booster, and the biggest shields you can find.

I also have 2 RE'd LVL 10's and the Borstell (also RE'd) for guns.

Use the mass where ya can to extend your battle.

Hmm. I've found Krayts to be very easy to destroy in PVP. They're a fat target with an unnecessary amount of firepower. If you have a gunner in one, that suddenly makes you a lot more dangerous, but if I saw a Krayt up against a Dunelizard or Kihraxz, I wouldn't bet on the Krayt.

I use the Rixy with no problems. It's all about speed control and a throttle bar on a joystick or similar device is very handy.

I hear a lot of people say, "My ship turns just fine if I just slow down a little." Guess what. That Dunelizard, that A-Wing, or that TIE Advanced you're fighting doesn't have to slow down. About the only time I have problems making sharp turns in my Dunelizard is when I've lit my booster.

Try reading the question, this is about privateer ships, not rebel ships (and I wasn't the 1 star bandit, even though I agree with him)

Thing is that I'm always on my throttle. It still doesnt matter, esp if I'm in a dogfight grouped with friends that are in A-wings. The Tier 5 TIEs then seem to kick it up a notch in terms of manuverability when being puersued by an A-wing, leaving me in the dust without a kill.

I've been thinking about using a Krayt or a Dune Lizard. Of those two, what do you all recommend?

I like the Krayt for both PvE and PvP but the Dune has its advantages for PvP (I still prefer the Krayt for mass, but that is me)
