Thread: Tactics Help Please
Hi,
To my knowlegde there is only one proffesion that can hit without the target beeing able to determine where the shots came from, the proffesion is Rifleman (concealment tree)
Although you use maskscent, this will NOT help you once you start attacking an animal, they know where the shots come from and will start rushing to you.
What kind of lair-missions are you doing? What is you combat proffesion?
Unless you are very distant (at least 120m ?), it will agrro on you at that time, even with unbroken maskscent/camo.
I will put up my whole routine for a constructive critism session when i get home tonight.
Nothing wrong with your tactics, except I detected a lack of traps. Traps were made for the pistoleer, especially the pdart and the glow-wire.
My method - note, I am a Master Pistoleer (again), and I may have shots you don't have yet.
63m... I am already maskscented....Healthshot2, HS3, stopping shot... peace. Once the bleeds kick in the animal will aggro, but alone. Move back to 80 m or so, the animal may just stand there bleeding as it attempts to find you. Once the animal charges, p dart it. It slows, or stops. Shoot while moving to 63 m. Once it starts moving in, pdart again. Or, if you are lucky, just let in charge in and finish it off as it is mainly dead.
Tips - ALWAYS EXAMINE THE CREATURE TO FIND THE RESISTS. Why use flame on something that is 90% resistant to flame, but not resistant to acid?? The DX2 is my friend right now. I carry two Fws, 2 Blasters, 2 DXs, a scout, and a striker. Because you never know which one will be the best to use.
Use terrain to your advantage. If there are hills, or valley, or gulches, use them. Never ever never ever never stand in one spot. You are not a BH, you are not stupid. Move your feet and use TN to keep a lead on the animal. Can't be hurt by what can't hit ya. If you are armored, oh well, too bad. TN will still help, just not as much.
Power ups for your weapon. Get some, damage type work best. Food buffs, cheaper in the long run that a docs buffs.
Droids as tanks. Hmm... no skill points to use, they attack. You can heal them. They follow commands. Pets, good ones, require skill pts.
Novice medic. Get it. Means you can use stimBs. And heal your broke azz faster.
Been doing this since day three, when it was shown to me, and with refinements, have dropped stuff solo that I watched eat a group.
Prepare, shoot, move and think... you win every time. This method also works on 80% of BHs, as they are too stupid to figure out what you are doing.

Follow JB's plan. Learn to use tactics. With buffs and armor, there are no tactics. Stand there and spam your best AoE attack while the creatues pound on you. Buffs + Armor = GodMode. An example:
I was a swordsman for a few days. I bought buffs and 75% ubese, and stood in a ring of piket longhorns (usually six of 'em) spamming the two handed spin attack. I set up a macro. I made myself a sandwich. I decided that although I like buffs and armor (I getlazy sometimes, what can I say.), I don't think I could stand to use them all the time.
I'm loving every minute of scouting and look forward to being a ranger.
I could be a smarter hunter.
hoping that my patience would pay off.
and give me a good amount of damage, and sometimes kill me and my little dog too
that could kill them first if they weren't smart about it?
