just a few small tips for those trying to fit in the reward shield in an ~100k mass x-wing.

1. its worth it

2. u might need to drop out your nice engine and get a lesser one, with lower mass. try to do this last.

3. reactor: get a mark 2 reactor at least 12.5 rate, with overcharge 3, you should be ok. .

4. shuffle your guns, get one lvl six RE'd at least for the lower mass and then you add 2 lvl 7 crafted ones.

5. get a 100k + mass x-wing. the exrta 2-3k mass is critical.

6. drop your nice booster, use a lvl 2 , 1500k energy booster, instead of that nic4 lvl 4.

7. use a slower interface, no more than 1k mass.

8. armor: with nice shields, all you really need them for is as an indication when to /iff out of there. so use even 200-400 armor hp armor. on mine i ended up using a190 point 450 mass armor.

doing allthis , i managed to fit in both my reward shield and weapon (both RE'd of course) AND my lvl 6 reward engine...

All these points are valid and from a tactical standpoint I cannot offer more advice...however I think attempting to solo it is close to futile, I am sure it is possible, but hey it is more fun to fly with a wingman, and if you can get a really good wingman, he will actually watch your butt instead of flying for his own glory

Thanks for the help all! I finished it and am now 4444!

Before I start on the next set of missions, I will do some duty missions, get some loot, and get my shields and other parts REed.

Congratulations Pheng! Just out of curiosity, what tactics and ideas worked best for you? Mind giving a rundown of how the mission went for you? If something we said helped, but other things didn't, that would be good to know for next time

Well, for the first part of the mission, I went and met up with the npc rebels, after a couple min (I was almost dead) the leader said it was hopeless and that we should all leave and regroup. Course all the npcs rebels dissapear leaving me all alone. I hit my IFF just as my ship was dead in the water. I couldn't move. BUT! I wasn't being shot at. Before I thought of trying an emergency repair, I was being shot again, and died.

Mission doesn't end at that point.

I was already told to go kill some ties, so after repaired at the station, and called the repair ship to repair me a bit more, I headed out.

I managed to take out all the evil bast--er ties. Most of the time, when I was getting shot a lot I stopped whatever I was doing and turned around. Targetted someone in front of me at that time, and shot at him for a bit.

After I killed all them I was done, and could go train (had more than enough xp). Also, got my L8 booster reward, and as luck would have it, while trying out the next mission, I picked up another L8 booster, with similar stats but less mass. Only need 5 more (had another), then I'll save it for a master lvl ship. 20k mass just for a booster is a little excessive in an x-wing hehe.

Practicing on the tie duty missionat the t4 Phoenix trainer helped a lot.

Now I get to go disable a lambda, kill its escort, and probably escort it back. I failed it the first time because I shot the shuttle too hard, and it blew up (oops). After that failed it sent me to rescue a spy, escort him, then I was told to go kill some freighters and imps. Aggressors, and Oppressors can get tough. Died in that battle because I started with the freighters, next time I'll kill the ties first.

Ok I've rambled enough. I'm off to go to some easy duty missions to get some loot so I can get my stuff REed.

that final tier 4 mission you are talkng about...it IS best to kill the freighters first and I have not heard of anyone doing this mission solo. The freighters, unless you get lucky enough to hyper in right on top of them, tend to to stick around long, and if they hyper out, mission fails. I would seriously get 2 or 3 friends to help you fly this mission, it is pretty rough and will likely beat te crap outta your components
