Thread: Ixiyen: Worth using over a dunelizard?

Ship stats:

Dunelizard: 85K mass, 2 guns, 1 missle
[Spdx 0.95 Acc 30 Dec 30 Pitch 300 Yaw 300 Roll 150]

Ixiyen: 95K mass, 2 guns, 1 missle
[Spdx 0.95 Acc 25 Dec 30 Pitch 200 Yaw 200 Roll 100]

Dunelizard has:
5 more acceleration, 100 more yaw and pitch, and 50 more roll.

Ixiyen has:
10K more mass, 5 less acceleration, 100 less yaw/pitch and 50 less roll.

So basically your giving up some manuverablity for 10K more mass. Doesn't seem worth it to me. Is there something im not seeing here? Is the cockpit better asthetically? better field of view or something? Is the manuverablity trade off not as bad as it looks on paper?

I used my Dunelizard until I made 4433. Never even looked at another ship it handles great can take all the payload I needed until 4433 at which point you start to need better equipment. I even took out Tier 5 Ships in my Dunlizard, took a while but it is doable

I'm now an Ace. I used a dunelizard as soon as it was available, and I never traded it in. I've used it through all my missions, even master missions. I am flying death. Gunboats don't stand a chance. All you need is to collect various components and RE them together. I have a great reactor, incredibly booster, amazing cannon, and superior armor. I still have 5-7k mass free.

I personally use an Ixiyen, mainly because I like the look of it over the Dunelizard. The manueverability doesn't bother me because I'm using to flying my Y-Wing on my other pilot.

Personal taste thing. I like that, gives you some choices. Both are pretty similar.

I've flown all the privateer ships except for the heavy hutt bomber. Dunelizard is the best dogfighter privateers get. It's hard to class the lizard, it seems to be in between light and medium. It's a great all around ship.

I've flown the light black sun flighter, I went back to my liz because 40k mass just isn't enough.

I flew the ixyen (sp?), but I redeeded it also. You sacrifice a lot of pitch/yaw/roll/acc/dec for a measely 10k mass. If it had comparable mass to the x-wing, then maybe then it would be worth it. Plus it has a HUGE profile and it's very easy to hit.

Privateers are ok on ships. We have some that really suck, but we have a few that are really awsome.

I fly the ixiyen simply because both weapon hardpoints are located well. I can't stand the wingtip mounted guns on the dunelizard. I can fly around the loss of PYR, and the 10K mass is a decent bonus. In combat I don't think the profile of the dunelizard is any more difficult to hit than the ixiyen.

I just wish we had a decent light fighter. 40K mass isn't enough, and I did a heck of a job packing it full or nice RE components.

I've redeeded my Dune and Ixiyen for now. I'm now testing the Kihraxz and it handles great! I'm doing pretty good against Tier 5 ships. It takes me a while to kill smaller ships though, like the A-wing and TIE Advanced. The location of the gun is not very good. I have level 7 and under components and I use reactor overload 3, weapon overload 3, capacitor overload 3, and engine overload 3.

BTW, I prefer the Dune over the Ixiyen.

I love my dunelizard as well. And flew it all the way through master.

However, I cannot solo a gunboat in it. Could you give me any pointers on this?

I stuck with the Dunelizard for the longest time and think it is a great ship. I couldn't stand any of the ships with high load capability because of the lack of maneuverability but have since gone up to a Rihk. Engine overload 3 makes the Rihk a much easier ship to control and I assume it would have the same effect on the Ixi. In fact, with the Rihk on engine overload 4, i can now all but keep up with the tier 5 ties in deep space. I wouldn't recommend settling on any ship until you've tested them out while running engine overload on them.

I bought one becasue I needed more mass to carry mark IV components, but the 10k was not enough. I still have not got the silly thing off the ground with the parts I want it to have. I am still flying my dunelizard and shifting out components as needed. Missles are overrated anyways. I have never used all my reactor energy so I am going with a lighter reactor to fit in heavier weapons and defenses. Still keep getting wasted on the 3rd tier 3 Jabba mission though.

I've solo'd gunboats in my DL when I was doing tier3 missions...its just takes a lot of hit and runs passes. The tier4 gunboats (YT's) tear me up.

the dunelizard can bemodifiedexceptional especially from alot of RE'd compsthat tend to be very light massd. If your not having mass isues theres no reason to upgrade chasis really. You wont regret upgrading to anIxeyen tho. it just has moremass to take alonger beating or pack a bigger punch, without much loss of agility.
