I have an old Tie Oppressor that i payed 1.5 million credits for.. I know that a lot but i wanted it to have a lot of mass. Now they make the ship better and the new stats are so much beter. I just had a shipwright make one that has 170k mass the old one did only 140k mass so am i out 1.5 million credits? I better not be

You can thank the dev team for not making the changes retroactive.

Yes, you lost your money.

The way the SWG database works, retroactive changes on an "experimentable" item attribute are not possible, because they are not tied to a universal statistic. This happens whenever they change a min or max experimental attribute for a craftable item. It used to be T-21 Rifles. Now it's TIE Oppressors and KSE Firesprays. Sucks when it's on something expensive, I'm afraid.

well, theres no way they could have made the changes retroactive--

i mean, all crafted items have a unique "Serial number", and their stats reflect the quality of the items that were used, experimentation, and other random variables (like how good the assembly was, etc).

it would be a nightmare to try and go back and change all of these chasis.

yeah, it stinks for those of us who have paid large amounts of credits for chasis that are now obsolete, but look on the bright side-- at least the chasis are better now

Thats not true, they can convert items with experimentation, take BE pets.

I think it was really poor planning, they know how much master level ships cost, big kick in the johnson for many.

So this "serial number" you speak of, it prevents conversion?

They've converted items correctly in the past, its just a matter of doing it. But by all means, continue to defend poor planning.

the BE pet reduction was just that they globally reduced the level of all BE pets to fit in with some kind of preestablished parameters.

how would you globally increase the mass allowance on all chasis? would you just say "ok, all tie oppressor chasis have exactly X mass". what about the super cheap chasis that had a super low mass, would they get increased too?

what if someone mass produced tons of the super cheap chasis with low mass, or, what if they did full hitpoint experimentation with no mass experimentation. all of these chasis would get converted to the new max mass amount, and they would be the best chasis ever...

wouldn't that be more detrimental to the game-wide economy?

You outta control! Read what you wrote man.

They would convert them accourding to how they were made, same as how BE pets and Lightsabers were done. They wouldnt automatically convert everything to one level, they have never done that in the past at all.

correct. in that every item is considered a unique item to the SWG database. you would need to parse through every item to locate the chasis--

then, how exactly would you "convert" these chasis to the new, more superior, mass.

existing BE pets weren't enhanced, they were nerfed. im saying, its easier to say "the best lvl X pet is now: Y" than it is to say "all chasis are now X mass". theres too much variability.

Dude I was being sarcastic, the serial number does not prohibit conversion in anyway shape or form.

ahhh ok. ?

i guess i can see why they didn't do it, and why BE pets and lightsabers were a different situation.

It's an issue of static figures as compared to experimental figures. When they changed the T-21 Rifle, they universally nerfed the Armor Piercing down to AP1 for a while. Every Rifle got the AP1 reduction, but only new ones could get the moderately better damage (which, as time would tell, made no difference, and it was thusly cranked up to AP3). This was way back after launch, when a good T-21 was going for hundreds of thousands of credits on some servers, and cash was not nearly as plentiful. Static stats are easy to nerf or juice, variables are not.

when the devs nerfed the fwg5 and the scatter pistol, why did they just change the schematic without changing all the old pistols as well?

--because changing the damage spread, ideal range, ham costs, etc, would be nearly impossible. all of the various pistols are considered to be "unique items", and changing the experimentally derived values in a way thats consistent with the new schematic would have been impossible-- theres too many unknown variables (how many experimentation points, krayt tissues, experiment bonsues, assembly bonuses, material values, etc).

instead the best they could do was to prohibit people from removing prenerf guns from crates.
