Well I hope you all were not paying 1.5 million credits for a gun lol
I mean come on were comparing apples to oranges. The truth is it could be done and fairly all you have to so is take the old stats and times it by some mulitplyer like say 1.3 cause thats what the increses seem to be is 30% All you need to do is have an npc that simply uses this multuplyer on the Re-deeded Oppressor and problem solved everything is equal

They could have done an across the board 15-20% increase on mass per ship type. But....Personally I don't know how their DBase is setup, so it might not have allowed for it.
There are also sometimes unexpected changes that can happen also.

The fact that we're arguing about this is ridiculous. The dev's could make this retroactive with one line of SQL. No code changes, no patches, no updates, etc. One line of SQL... period.
If they added 30K mass to the Oppressor then they just need to add 30K mass to all of the existing items. Each ship is hand crafted and thus has a slightly different mass depending on materials and experimentation. This could be preserved by adding 30K of mass to all existing items. That way if you had a 130K Oppressor then you now have a 160K Oppressor. Very simple.
UPDATE t_PlayerShips SET d_Mass = (d_Mass + 30000) WHERE (sType = 12)
- t_PlayerShips = A table that holds information about player owned ships
- d_Mass = A column in the above table that stores the mass value for each ship
- sType = A value that represents a relational valueof the ship stored in the table above
Man I'm glad I didn't make myself one of these yet...

Old Oppressor = 1.2 mil lost, acceptable.
Old Firespray = 7 mil lost, unacceptable!

7 million creds, wow thats a big ouch. hopefully they will have a trade-in program of some sort. But, im leaning twards that not happening.
p.s. i've never seen more than 1 million credits ever in this game, so i can understand how big a dent 7 million is

At least it's better than not addressing the mass issue at all. You had two options:
1. Be stuck w/ a 140k mass TIE/O
2. Have the option of buying a 170k mass TIE/O
If you bought a 140k TIE/O and then someone somehow experimented one to 170k, you'd drop the $$$ in a heartbeat w/ a minimum of complaining. Now the Devs have fixed it and, though some grumbling is reasonable, implying that they kicked you in the nuts on this is unreasonable. When Ford fixes a "flaw" in their 2005 models, you don't say you got kicked in the nuts on the 2004 (unless it's something serious). This is a similar situation. Your 140k TIE/O is not useless. It still flies, you can still load it up. It just doesn't have the mass. Continuing the Ford example, if you REALLY don't like the 2004 Ford, you sell it to someone else (or trade it in), take a hit as a result of depreciation and then pay some extra to buy the new one. Do that with the TIE/O's. Sell your current one cheaper. If a 170k mass goes for $170k (for example (I know it doesn't)), sell the 140k for $140k. Someone will buy it, I promise you...
I honestly don't mean to sound callous, but it sounds like the Devs fixed something that was an issue and the way they did is now under fire. They took a VERY RL approach to fixing this (and the only approach they could take w/o raising your monthly fee to cover the extra staff and hours). Some complaining is reasonable. Some of it is just plain whining.
My approach to this situation? "Dang it. Well... Hey you, wanna buy a lower-mass TIE/O for 75% list price? Hey shipwright, wanna sell me a new high-mass TIE/O? I've got the money since I sold the old one... (Could you maybe even cut me a deal since I'm having to buy again?)" OR "Crap. Well, if nothing else, I've got a backup if everything goes to Hell."
My approach to the situation is NOT: "Curse you Devs for fixing something I didn't like but not doing it the way I wanted. Granted, if I was in your shoes, I would have done the same thing, but since I'm not, I can just blame it on you."
Sorry. Not meant to offend you, but if you took offense, perhaps you don't like getting a different perspective (which probably means you're 13 and haven't learned the value of seeing things "from a certain point of view"). Sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted (honestly). Nevertheless, the other option was to keep flying the 140k mass and have no choice. Which would you rather have? There's no option C...
Hope it works out for ya.
BTW, on the firespray, I hear your pain. There should be some kind of fix on that since I assume they're rare. Perhaps a CSR could exchange it for you. Not sure that'd happen, but it nevers hurts to ask (*politely*). Worst answer = no.

i agree with this post.
it's better than nothing-- and at least the devs did something.

I'm less concerned about my TIE Oppressor and more concerned about my KSE Firespray, those things are -expensive-. But like another poster said, by all accounts it's not going to change so no point in crying over spilled milk. At least I can sell my current KSE to someone else and recoup part of the cost.

Point 1: As I understand it, their Oracle Database is set up in a way that makes children and baby seals cry, and manipulating pre-existing items in it is a HUGE pain in the butt.
Point 2: Sell your "old model" ships off to cheap people who can't afford the "new ship" prices but want the new ship anyhow. Yeah, you take a bit of a hit, financially. But early adopters ALWAYS end up paying extra/more. It's part of the privelage of getting things first. You know they might not work as advertised.
