Anyone got any good advice on taking one of these babies down?

Just to see what kind of fire power they had my crew tried taking a few shots at one from my YT-1300 and lets just say that ended quite negatively hehehe

I'm just hoping theres a strategy to it and not just sheer numbers of B-wings packed with space bombs to take one down..

Nice spacing. Anyway, I've heard rumors that an A-Wing with a really fast engine can solo it by avoiding all of the lasers, but it takes like half an hour.

Evasive maneuvers are key (keep changing your course). That way you should be stay alive at least

I am more like desk officer - I am leading group of hotshot pilots against big imperial ship and give orders like "Attack against shield generators!" or "Destroy those weapon platforms!". In reality I really don't know how some of those hotshot pilots manage to fly there and kill those targets

Last time wedid fight there maybe20 minutes until one of those crazy A-Wing pilots said that he is under radar and can kill bridge. Imoved to good screenshot position and I said "go ahead"... big explosion and few good screenshots...

There are some good ideas in this thread. There are two ways to do it.
1. Hide in the blind spots. There is a guide with pictures somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
2. Fly fast and jink around so you don't get hit often. This is easiest in an a-wing. An x-wing is doable. It's probably easier to hit the bridge with a spacebomb, but I usually use blasters. The bridge is about the only part that gets me killed on occasion.

I don't think you can do the ISD in something like a Nova. It's just too big.

Not trying to brag, but our little group from the 77th Squad took one out Saturday night.

Our squadron group consisted of a single Nova and 2 X-Wings. I was in one of the X-Wings while Dreiter was in the other. Our Nova group had pilots Lynmi and Aaryc.

Our tatics worked out best when Dreiter suggested we all come inlike a dive-bomber. Come in high, straight, and then peel out fast when you've hit your target. Obviously you'll have to make multiple runs at the various targets.

The X-wings would lead with the Nova right behind us adding some punch to each strafe.

You can actually fly low enough with the X-Wing or I would think any smaller craft and avoid getting hit too bad. I actually landed on the deck, below the bridge, and was targeting some of the turrets in that area. Not too much success, but at least I was not getting shot at.

It was very gratifying moment to see it go up in pieces. Our team worked out well for our first run together.

Is there an established blindspot or blindspots map of any kind for the SD? I know that with 99 guns there may be a bunch of them, or none unless you are parked on the skin of the ship, but I figured I would ask.

Yes there are definitely blind spots u can use. I do it all the time. The pattern goes like this.
After the star destroyer spawns you wait for teh figther and gunboats to fly away for about 1 min.
Then you fly down and stop directly against the back of teh command tower. (Remember where the Millineum falcon hid in Empire Strikes back?) You sit there and blast the first shield tower. Then you boost over the center part and do the same thing on the opposite side. (only need to boost for 2 seconds or so) You'll get shot a few times but it shouldn't be much. Destroy second shield tower. point your ship down and u should see one of the outer engines sticking out just a bit. You need to boost down to that and fly into it. Even though its on and should incenerate your ship it doesn't. Shoot out the engine. The next part is tricky. Fly straight up and get right onthe deck of the star destroyers surface, you shuld be against a wall and see the 4 main guns in front of u. Fly to the corner and follow that until u hit the next corner and stop. You should be in the corner behind teh 4 guns close to the deck. You should be able to shoot out the reactor from here.
Then boost to command tower, aim for the bottom area in the middle below the bridge. Nothign can shoot u there, then blast away at the bridge. Ship will move suddenly that tells u it's exploding.

Poof easy money.

there are blindspot on the ISD but on Bria at least, making use of them after 6pm EST is suicidal as from experience, I know the imps there tend to 'wait' by the ISD [as well as it being their load point] and like to pick off rebels trying to kill the ISD who are parked at the blindspot...which is afair tactic. All is fair in love and war afterall, but just a heads up.

This blindspot being directly underneath the Bridge tower.

Also...Its so much more fun and satisfying to take it down without using the blindpsot. Any nerfherder could kill the bridge of that thing by using the blindspot.

However, if pure FP farming is your thing fair enough. Just take out shields, engines [oh when killing engines you need to hit the glowy yellow bits directly] and then the reactor. [some people find the reactor tricky, but just bide your time and make sure you got shield shunt.]

If you do make use of the blindspot beneath the bridge in order to take out the bridge..make sure to be checking the holy button constantly because you don't want to be taken out by an Imp player while your sitting there and the bridge is down to 1% integrity.

In fact, any time you're in DS or overt you need to be checking that Z button every few seconds or even more frequently than that because if someone is out to kill overt members of your faction..you can be certain that they will be checking for enemy players more than you if all you want is FPs.

The ISD actually is easier to complete then the Corvette as it doesn't move. I've been able to solo it a number of times in different craft and here's the tricks:

- The ISD model is larger then it's aggro space, it will not fire on you until it has been fired upon

- The turret fire coming from the ISD can be dodged, they are not instant hits, when you start seeing firing coming up at you start moving back and forth, up and down to dodge the incoming fire, ignore targetting the guns and concentrate on the components

- Hit the componet and then booster out while moving back and forth... get outside of 2000m and you'll be out of range of the guns

- Watch for vessels dropping from the bottom side of the ISD: all Imperial activity is generated from the underside of the ISD and moves outwards towards the rear

- Make sure to have Cap-to-Shield Shunt 4 and at least Cap-Overload 3, they will save your life when you make a run... hot key Shunt to a button on your joystick

- If things get too hot slam IFF Scrambler to break aggro

- Watch for other enemy players, have a button designated for target nearest enemy player and hit it often, the Enemy player is going to be your greatest threat, hit the button often, if there is no one then you're current targeting profile won't change

Just like the Vette the components need to be taken out in a specific order:

Primary Shield Generator / Secondary Shield Generator:They are the spheres on top of the bridge superstructure, approach from above, hit them on your approach and booster away to the rear away from the engines, come back in with the same approach, jink back and forth to dodge fire, destroy both of them, the engines are now exposed

Engine: There is a blind spot near the engines but you don't really need it as there aren't many cannons that can fire at you when you are near the engine... approach from the rear, hit engines, booster out to the rear, repeat, with engines destroyed the reactor is next

Reactor: The reactor is one object but it can be hit from either side of the ISD. Target the reactor, approach from the side at 90degree through the centreline of the ISD and level with the ship, the reactor target boxes will be on the shoulders of the lower superstructure, as fire comes up at you jink back and forth, close on reactor target box, open fire, booster away to the rear hugging the ISD the best you can, escape to the rear, recharge shields, line up on the side again outside of 2000m, repeat, reactor down, bridge is exposed

Bridge: This will now be the easiest part because of a great blind spot: After destroying the reactor wait for aggro to cease or hit IFF to break it, approach the ISD bridge, park just below it and hug right up against the superstructure (the blind spot), aim up at the bridge,, open fire from the complete safety of your blind spot, Bridge is destroyed

...dazzling explosions and impressive huge chunks of space debris as the ISD unravels in front of you... congratulations.

I knew I saw one before. I guess I did not look very hard when I searched...

Good job on the ISD Canaryville. The ISD was too busy firing at the X-wings to take out the Nova. It goes down VERY fast when you have a small group going attacking in waves.
