Thread: has anyone solo'd the corvette mission for the heavy xwing?
Its someting of a gamble, but disable it when it reaches the closest to your target destination (rebel station i think, i forget). This way, it has to travel the least amount of distance whilst under your control - thereby reducing the time the gunboats have to pummel it.
i had to do them both .. im a freelancer and i made the mistake of going to the rebel station like i was told . so after i soloed that one i had to do it all over again to get my vaksia... what i did was only take out the shields and engine and back off leaving ALL of the guns on the vett.. then after the 3 waves of fighters came the first gb ... you want to be up front of the vett and leave the fighters alone from here out( all those vett guns will protect her) shoot the gb a few times then fly away fast(1300+) keep an eye on that gb she is on you now dont go more than 1300m away from her or any less than 900 unless you are making a pass at her or heading back for the next wave of 2 gbs and a few fighters... when the 2nd way comes in shoot one or both of the new ones if you can in one pass keep in mind you have to still be wint in range of the gb #1 so it is still agro on you ... get all 3 to follow you around and then you are golden i was able to make orbits around the vett at about 3k out till she made it to the station... she killed all the figters and having all those guns protected her reactor... as soon as the mission is complete boost to the staion get your ship FAST and get the hell out of there
they will follow you for up to 3 mins after mission complete so hyper out asap.. save some booster for the sec the hyper drive kicks in ... thats how i did it my 1st 2 times now i can drag them off into a asteroid field and kill them all before the mission is complete for my friends.. ![]()

The key to being able to take out a vette with only blasters is...
...a sort of level of spacial awareness that may take some time for a pilot to properly aquire. I'm not sure how to describe it better than that, but I can say this: in my first few months as a pilot, no matter how well equipped I was, I simply would not have been able to take out a corvette with only blasters. I wasn't 'seeing the puzzle' in the right way back then.
I wouldn't suggest taking out a corvette with only blasters to a newer pilot who doesn't already know how to solo this mission. At the very least, some practice with missiles on one of the other corvettes should come first, I'd think.
A) wait til it's 6km away from the station to disable (if you're an imp don't do this)
B) don't ever shoot the gunboats. not even once. the vette will pass harmlessly over the gunboat while it pummles it's suspiciously invulnerable hull.(caviat: this is a bad idea if the reactor has already been taken out as the gunboat has a clean shot at the bridge)
Activate a waypoint to the imp or reb station and sit there until it's about 6k out, then MKIV proton missle it's shield s and engine and wait until its under control.
Any fighter waves that spawn try to just disable them rather than outright kill them, this will slow the spawn of the next wave (the vette may finish them off for you but there's nothing u can do about that) and more than likely you will get to the station without having to deal with a single gunboat.
You dont even need to take any of the guns. Sit right behind the central exhaust port on the vette, target the shields, hit it with a MK IV proton, target shield 2, hit it with a MK IV proton, then zap the engines. Bingo, you have a fully gunned Corvette that can defend itself. When the bungoats spawn, leave them alone, just concentrate on the fighters, you can sit back, with the Vette targeted, so you can monitor it, and let it make it's way to the station. it hypes at 1k from the station, so you can judge how much you have to go.
It's an easy mission to solo, it's juts knowing how, that's the trick.
you guys realize, the guns respawn when the vette is finished being taken over?
the shields and engines don't.
don't ask how the transport moves through space. i just assumed it was using the force.

They do 'reappear' but they dont count as hit-points anymore and so the enemies can down youre corvette in 1 min instead of 10, since they only need to take out the reactor and bridge.
