Thread: has anyone solo'd the corvette mission for the heavy xwing?
- The guns respawn, but the general consensus is they're much weaker.
- When I've done this, the only component that must be defended is the reactor. Once the reactor goes the ship blows, unless this has changed then then person saying the gunboats go for the bridge....I have to question that.
- Because they're going after components, your first target are the bomber type NPCs. The gunboats do seem to have a much harder time hitting anything of consequence.
1. Rebel Heavy XWing Mission = Solo'ed (for the record, first time I did this I had the help of Ritha, second tmie on the second toon solo'ed...)
2. Imperial Royal Guard TIE mission = Solo'ed
3. Verksai Mission = Should be giving it a shot in the following weeks to come.....
I agree with the previous poster. Beginning about a month ago I have assisted on this mission at least 5 times and we have never touched the gunboats. The gunboats, although firing at the vette did not destroy it. Tried it yesterday with 6 pilots and the Grag gunboats just chewed up the vette. I believe the mission has changed and it is harder now. Would like to see tactics from someone who has completed the mission within the last couple days.

i tried a bunch of times, i can disable the vette pretty easily but i can't protect it, i always get like 3 gun boats attacking it and it seems like i just can't take em out in time. is ther some trick or something to doing it?
i have... don't start disabling it until it gets closer to the reb outpost, that way the npcs flying around the outpost can help the vette and you can just run away like a little girl
thats what I did.
If I can solo this mission, anyone can. Last time I did it in a Heavy Z-95 with a Mark III proton launcher.
My last vette flew AWAY from the rebel outpost while I was following it. I was a little dumbfounded. The ranged to the rebel outpost started to increase, not decrease. I followed it for a while and swore at it. Finally I just disabled the damn thing. After it was "captured" it finally turned back towards the rebel outpost.
When the fighters showed up I killed them as quickly as I could. When the gunboats showed up I got the hell out of there. There were three gunboats and three fighters pounding it for quite a while. It finally hypered out successfully.
This mission isn't all that hard if you are patient and have nerves of steel.
i did it 2 nights ago twice, one for heavy x wing then for vaksa.
did it exact same way both times, however its slightly different rebel pilot to freelance.
Rebel pilot....
vette wont attack u unless u hit it, makes it easier to kill surrounding ships. kill escort then proceed same as freelance pilot.
freelance....
kill escort ships staying out of range of vette, when there all dead fly in right behind engines and your in the guns blind spot, take out both shields with your choice of missiles/spacebombs. shoot engines untill disabled.
once its operational and on the move you get the fighters, 1st spawn some tier 4/5 ships, 2nd is same, 3rd you get 5 tier 2 then its gunboat time.
1 ship and 1 gunboat kill the fighter and leave the gunboat. Gunboats will attack rebel pilots but not freelance unless you hit them, either way just leave well alone, next spawn is 2 gunboats and i think 2 fighters maybe one. kill the fighters and back off.
on rebel i stayed 1k away on freelance i stayed 500m as the GB's wernt attacking me anyway. if your lucky they dont take all the guns out, if they do dont worry u wont see the systems go down below 59%. be prepaired to get out of there when the vette shoots of as the gb's will start to attack you.
on a final not i've found in about the 10 times ive done this now, that if you leave just the gun boats on the vette you will be ok, however 1 fighter seems to make all the difference, 1 fighter and 3 gb's seemed to be just enough to overpower it.
