Thread: DS isn't efficient for rebels?

I always thought DS was more efficient for Rebs. Vettes can be fun to screw around with, but if you're just out there for loot and FP, they're a huge waste of time. In fact, I normally just fly from fighter spawn to fighter spawn and train the Bomberstrikes on the nearest Corvette as soon as I have them ready again just to get them off my radar. Otherwise, if I'm out there grinding away, I leave them alone.

>> DS isn't efficient for rebels?

Personnaly, i dont think it is.

Reason is. Enter DS as an imperial. What do you see?
Rebel corvette, and gunboat formations with escorts. TONS of them.

Enter DS as a rebel and what don't you see?
Imperial corvette formations. You see some gunboat formations but by and large the majority of the spawn from my experience is rebel.

In short, you dont have as much to shoot at as a rebel.
On top of that, you dont have to go to DS as a rebel to earn FP hand over first. Since the Empire controls the galaxy, you have alot more to shoot at in normal space. On top of that you have a destroy duty mission which spawns teir 4 ties, that you can kill in mass quantities.

Im a rebel colonel currently, made it in about 4 days or so, and not once did i grind FP in deep space.

Rebels dont need deep space. Imperials on the otherhand do. As their FP farming opportunties outside of DS are next to none, nor do they have a destroy duty mission that spawns rebel ships. Ironically all they get is an escort mission. *cough*

is that really true though? vettes are visible sometimes from 5-8km away whereas gunboats and it's escorts only about 3-4km. from watching spawns come off the ISD it looks to me like it comes at the same frequency as off the freedombase, plus we already discussed the inefficiency of attacking vette spawns when trying to grind fast.

Well the operative word here is "efficiency".

Regardless of spawn frequency:

It takes a bit longer to kill a teir 5 than a teir 4.
DS, you have alot of unwanted "trash" to contend with. (IE as an imperial, A wings just ruined my day when all i wanted was the tasty B wings, take forever to kill a contigent of A wings)

Running the teir 4 destroy mission, i can kill two teir 4's in the time it takes to nail one teir 5. On top of that i dont have anything harrasing me other than the occasional overt hunter.

If you want to talk effiencency, its all about mass slaughter of teir 4 ships. And on that, rebels have one up on imperials.

hmmm. i'm still not convinced. it only takes me 3 shots to take out an awing. or was it 4? anyway it's not that bad... and don't you get more lvl 9 and 10 drops off tier 5s? you get more FP i thought...

I think at this point its boiled down to how much FP you can gain in a given amount of time. Other factors to consider is time between spawns. Gunboat formations you often have to find them. Compare that to wave after wave of teir 4 ships you can two shot that the game drops into your lap.

*shrug* not that important to me. Both might turn out to yield the same FP. My overall point is however, rebels dont need DS, and i personnaly feel the teir 4 destroy mission they have is more efficient in an FP per hour scenario.

It also depends on what you mean by efficiency. If you're after FP, then DS works for both factions. If you're a loot hunter, then DS is a treasure trove for Imperials and a wasteland for Rebels.

The ISD gives nothing, and I've heard of some CRAZY loot coming off the corvettes.

Well, it would have to be some pretty crazy loot, seeing as Vettes don't drop any.

I've killed a few hundred without any drops. Presumably this is to cut back on the Kessel Vettes being farmed, I guess, though that seems a little unnecessary.

unfortunately that person lied to you. the vettes don't drop anything but credit chips. =|

and as to finding gunboat spawns, the trick to that is to reset the zone. now you know exactly where spawns are and where they are going.

Hrmm... will verify this later. I distinctly remember her saying she was looting like crazy while soloing the 'vettes. Unless I connected two dots which did not belong together.

Simply put:

Rebels get the entire friggin' galaxy to farm FP - there is no zone where you can't find Imperial ships to frag, usually in static, self-sustaining spawn points. We Imperials get DS. Kessel USED to be a very nice place to farm - now it's as barren as a Chernobyl dairy.

Your job is to come in periodically and mess with us.

Any more questions?

But, by all means, Rebs - feel free b*tch about how there's very little for you to kill in DS so we get fire support and are able to grind FP all the more easily.

Of course, it'd be a pretty Pyrrhic victory, since I think if you added an equal amount of Rebel ships to Imperial ships, you'd have a zone so lagged to high Hell and gone that NO ONE would benefit.

...of course, I'm sure that's the intent of some of you.
