I'm getting a computer upgrade so I can handle being around a ISD in Deep Space!

Man, when all those guns open up, I get 3-8 fps.

i would be really interested to see if a computer upgrade helps that Coran. i'm nearly positive it's a bugand it only recently (last publish i believe) got that bad for me. usually when the ISD is firing i had 15-20fps... but as soon as that publish went in, boom it dropped to 3-8 as well.

I am a imp(heaven forbid) but i think ds spawns are related to who's in there I have a rebel too and if u sit there for 5-10 mins ive noticed more imps spawning.

This would be quite offtopic in the other thread so I'm pulling it out here.....

rebels reading this, everyone says DS isn't as efficient for rebels, primarily because of the gunboats, but i really think it's an organization issue instead. i've never tried being a rebel, but i've grinded a few gunboats in my krayt. it's not easy, you probably need more people to be really efficient at it, but i believe DS is still the answer. i wonder if the rebel gunboats get fixed if people will abandon DS as a grind zone altogether?

As I recall from doing the SA tree, rebel gunboats are only missing a firing angle below and front of center, right? Do most rebs find imp gunboats exceedingly difficult to take down for some reason? The guns on my fighter in PvP set up aren't effecient for hunting gunboats(waiting on the heavy x quest to get un-bugged. go tiggs!), but it just takes a little more time compared to my old pve X setup. Not particularly dangerous if I'm paying attention. My heavy X should be efficient at it.

What's the rebel gripe about DS being efficient?

Just remember that one person's issue isn't a general rebel gripe. I find DS terribly efficient, and have little or no trouble with gunboats or escorts.

ah well, perhaps it isn't an issue after all. it's just what i've heard players say, but i've never been able to understand exactly why.

what is the top FPH (faction per hour) you can get as a rebel in DS (unaided)?

Never had trouble with gunboats in my X. I only ran 3 RE'd Level 7 blasters and they rarely lasted longer than 30 seconds, each. Stay directly behind them, make sure not to approach closer than 565 meters and let it rip. You may need the occasional CTSS, but not often. Make sure to keep checking for enemy Aces. They're a lot more dangerous than any group of 6 gunboats.

I take out imperial gunboats without a problem. They have a huge blind spot(below and to the rear -- figuring out which is the top and which is the bottom may take a pass or two, but the bottom is the one without the two gun bubbles on it). I just target the engine and smack it from the blind spot to stop the ship moving. then I can just sit in the blind spot and take out the rest of the systems. It usually takes under a minute.

well someone was complaining about it being less efficient. let's hear it, what's the gripe?

i'd also like to know.

is it a single player deficiency in taking down the imp boats? if i recall correctly they do have a blind spot, although it is harder to reach. it seems like strafing runs on that blind spot would take twice as long as it would to take down a rebel boat but it'd still be more efficient than any other zone.

or is it a question of something else in the spawns? the agressor issue? i remember finding them a pain in the ass in the krayt...

I dunno. When I'm trolling DS waiting for some PVP I usually take down lots of chevron formations of gunboats. I pick the one that's closest, or if they're flying on the same plane, randomly choose left or right. Finding the blindspot is easy. Since they're in formation, you only have to worry about the lead ship, since it'll get a bead on you first.

Imperial gunboats have a huge blindspot. It exists in their bottom arc from their midpoint line to about 10 degrees below their rear arc. Warning, bad ascii art ahead:

Dead
OOOOOOOOO----
hurting | \10 degrees
Safe\

(As I recall, rebel gunboats have a similar blindspot. Cept they don't have a nose gun that works so it's the entire bottom arc)

So I line up below the chosen gunboat around 400m, cross just in front of the centerline, stop and start shooting. Target the engines and keep shooting. With two RE'ed 6's, I can stop the gunboat before it moves out of range most of the time(in my X with a 8,6,7 I could blow it before it moved out of range). If you did the distances right, the lead gunboat will be out of range by the time you drop back into its arc. If you screw it up, boost back into the blindspot and try again.

Kessel gunboats that circle a point in space take longer to do and take more cunning, but not so much that they're impossible. Just don't get impatient with them.

Back when the ISD had huge gaping blindspots and I hadn't decommissioned my PVE X-wing, I was able to kill it in 45 seconds flat between first shot and last shot. I am pretty sure my FPH was almost 10k. I know it was much better than 5k.

They've changed the ISD, so it's not quite as fast to solo. Plus it causes all sorts of lag for everyone else in the zone.

hearing this it makes it seem like it's just as efficient if not moreso. corvette spawns in DS, while making excellent ornaments once disabled around the rebel station, aren't really that efficient for getting FP. (except the vette/xwing/bwing spawn).

it seems like without spawns wasted on vettes you rebels should be able to actually get more FP. how long does it take to finish a spawn off? i'm doing 10 escorts and 3 gunboats in about 4 minutes. give or take.
