Walking through bestine on my server last night towards my city, minding my own business.
A guy in imperial style katarn armour comes up to me "hey you, will you take me up into space so I can finish my pilot, I only need about 300k more XP"
I reply "No sorry, best way to learn pilot is to do it yourself"
He comes back with "whatever, F U, rebel scum"
This a common occurance on every server or is it just mine?

I've been asked several times on Valcyn, told them exactly what you said, but never gotten a reply like that. It always goes into an explanation of WHY they need to do it themselves. They seem to understand, and move along. I haven't played on Radiant in over a year, the climate there could have changed, used to be a relaxed and laid back server. Very buggy though, that's why I left.

Does seem to be more and more common.
My story on these lines: guy who wanted some pilot XP - I was on my way to deep space anyway, in a krayt, so I thought wth he can tag along in the back. He got xp that would otherwise have been wasted (prestige points - bah!), we parted happy.
Now I'm getting daily tells from the same guy 'can we get xp??' and the odd tell saying 'im stuck on kash pls taxi me.'

When I'm farming a spawn, if someone wants to sip off the xp, there's only one rule now: keep up. If you can't get 10% damage in on each target before I turn them into atoms, you need to work on getting more skills or better equipment.
But yeah, I'm getting rather pissed at the "doitformes" as well.

I'll do it for guild mates to give them an early "leg up" on the early tiers (just as an intro to how to dock, how to take out components etc.) or group up with them to do a hard mission but in no-way am I going to just let complete strangers sit there in a turret while I do it for them.
People like that arent looking for master pilot they are just after another badge.

my policy is tier 1 and 2 xp, and only if im in a good mood or am being paid to get bored out of my skull, if they start getting annoying then its /addignore for them, several have made it there through asking me to grind their pilot xp and being rather rude and stuborn cos i wasnt gonna bend over backwards for their needs

If someone is a friend or asks nicely, and i'm in the mood for it and have time, then I will help them get XP for Tier 1 and/or 2.
I will also help people (same criteria as above) with missions on any tier.
If someone wants to get cheap XP in my krayt for Tier 4, they can go kiss my a**

The only time I rode gunner to fill out XP was for Tier 2. After that, I said **** it, if I am going to ride and let myself do minimal work while someone else does the brunt of it, then I am not a real pilot. I am now grinding out Tier 4 solo and enjoying it. During Tier 2, I did fire at the targets, I did not just sit there. For my last 130k XP of my first Tier 4 Box, I flew my TIE Interceptor while my friend flew his JSF, and we had a blast disabling and blowing up targets. I am always willing to help a pilot out, as long as they do their work too, and don't just sit there and AFK grind.

Try taking them up in a Y-Wing turret and not letting them hit. They might get XP, but it's only half and REALLY frustrating.

I've only done it on a few occasions. Acouple oftimes with friends that were mastering a second pilot profession, so I already know they knew how to fly, and once when a guy bribed me with an endor painting.

If I'm ever bothered by someone like that, I'll probably take them up in the ARC and run from everything, so they have to kill it.
PS- MBK you might want to reconsider your policy. Powering someone through the first two tiers is the worst time to do so in terms of their education. Help them on tough missions, coach thier loadout, and skill picks, show them goos spots to get xps, so the grind isnt totally long, but blasting them past the low end won't help them at all.

I have only do it once for a guildmate in my krayt. However, I am a very acrobatic pilot. I roll while I shoot and move all over the place. We had only been up for about 20 mins when he said he was done... to motion sick to continue.
Haven't had anyone ask since.

General policy tho, if they are not in my guild or directly related to me... I tell them to zark off.
