jinking, turning, and in a circle of death with a neutral pilot... evidently she got bored.... because the next thign i know, she uses an epulse3 and i'm dead.

Thats it.

1 Epulse3 destroyed me. Full shields (2555 f/b) and full armor (about 500 f/b).

Any neutral pilots out there with experience in using this in pvp? Is this a retarted 'i win' ?

Range and time....if your 300+ meters out you will not get hit and after it is set off it take a while for systems to reset to be able to use it again.
If flying in a group make sure you keep an interval so that if a baddie decides to pop an epulse he won't take out your whole group.

Note if your an imperial pilot or fighting an imperial pilot be aware weather your flying in a...oh darn my mind just went blank....those cloud thinggies in space...they/you can use nova blast to the same effect as epulse.

Epulse3 gets it's power from capacitor and shields. If you manage to take down some off their shields before they have a chance to pop it you'll take less damage. One unbalancing thing about epulse is that it only affects ONE side of a target ship. If damage was mitigated to both to the front and back of a ship it'll make thing seem a little bit more fair

Yes, give in, resistance is futile

*ahem* Not really but the way I view it is Epulse3 is the last ditch of space.. execpt its inverted

Instead of doing more dmg the less hp you have it does more dmg the more HP you have but leaves you extremely messed up after it (no capacitator energy/shields makes for a great target)

I only really use epulse vs JSFs.. pesky noobs thing they're gods in those things.. good ol epulse teaches them a lesson

Wait a minute,,, (digs out the dusty Freelance pilot manual)... Oh yea, I remember now.

I think I may have used e-pulse one time before mastering pilot. I didn't pvp at the time, and it didn't seem like a smart thing to do whilst getting hammered by a gunboat.

I wouldn't feel right using e-pulse in pvp.The way I see it is if I can't shoot them down, it's not a win.

Unless of course you're getting your ass handed to you... I use it as a last ditch from time to time, but I allways try to take them out with blaster first...

ahhhh so epulse is justified if you are facing someone who can dogfight better than you?

but on topic the only defense is to kill the other guy before he gets in range. slow down to acrawl and let the other guy do teh approching. target reactor, spray balster fire, and hope you get a hit before your at 250m.

Heh... it is a part of the weapon-arsenal that is available to a freelancer. I find it unfair to use it as a standard attack, and would much rather bring down my opponent in a "fair" fight. But... in my opinion, using EP is a little like catching people off guard in DS. It is one of the hazards of flying there, and should be accounted for by all means...

I may get flamed for this, but I have to know...

Isn't the desired result in a fight winning? Epulse is a skill, and since it hasn't been nerfed again it's "working as intended."

you know really im the last personwho has a right tocomplain about an unfair advantage (talk about the pot calling the kettle black!), but epulse is unbeatable agianst a small fighter with a pilot who knows how to get in close without taking a hit. it was kinda balanced back before rotw when freelance got the shaft when it came to good ships for pvp, but now that they can hop in a jsf and use it, its completely unballanced.

I see your point here, but, most people dont seem to use it. Hang on, lots of people dont know about it, argh, guess im going to start blowing up at random in the future then!

Yeah I'm glad to say, most freelance don't use it on our server. They use the proper way of shooting someone down, either blasters or missiles Must say, I'm a big fan of the latter, it can mean the difference between life and death in an evenly matched duel.
