Thread: Couple of space mining questions

This first question is kinda dumb, how do you unload your cargo bay without selling it to a space station so you can use it in crafting? I tried taking it out and seeing if there was options in inventory. I looked in the space abilities menu, nothing. Selling it isnt bad, but it would be helpful if i could craft with it.

Also, this one is about cargo bays and mining lasers, can shipwrights craft them? or will i be stuck with the small Y-8 cargo bay forever? Are there more mining quests i can do after i get the Y-8?

I had a the same problem when I first started the quest. What you do is when you land. You pull up your data pad and bring up the radial menu around the ship with the cargohold. It will give you an option for emptie hold. That is it.

K, thx for all ur help But ive got a more non noobish question, when it comes to mining, do most people usually take an xwing or something out and mine with it? Or do you use the Y-8 despite it being a big cumbersome ship?

I use my Krayt. I've seen others use other types of ships too. I wouldn't mind trying the Y-8 to mine but you are limited to 2 POB's and I already have 2, my YT and Yacht. I've heard that the Y-8 has short comings but can't comment on them since I have yet to deed it. The largest cargo bay I havewill hold1550 units. The Y-8 one will hold 5000 making it much more advantagous for mining as you don't have to land and unload as often. I don't have a POB cargo bay so not sure of the size. SW's can craft Y-8 cargo bays so it might be possible to get one larger then 5000.

SW can make cargo bays and mining lasers. There are differnt size cargo bays for different sized ships. POB's and Y-8's have their own type. But you can load the smaller one's in if you want to use them. Just smaller bay size. As far as theQuests after you get the Y-8,I think youron your own once you get it. What I do is get stuff for SW's to use.

Actually, the Y-8 small cargo hold can have 5000, its a reward you get when you get the y-8 deed. But i am getting a 1 million credit order for parts for my Y-8 (mining in space though to help him get it faster and reduce cost) which includes a 30000 large Y-8 cargo bay. The only trouble is that its too slow, ittook me about 40 minutes to get around 1300 recources in the Y-8 whereas its about that much time to take my xwing up twice and get 2k. Although, i could get some mining lasers to use on my nova and see if they arent bugged on it. Anyone know how big a pob ship cargo bay is? Or does it use the same one as Y-8?

Start with Flash Harrison in the tree on Kashyyykk. The mission are easy if your a Master Pilot but will be a challenge if your below a Tier 3. Depends on your piloting skills. Some of the mission are mining and some involve fighting. My opinion, if your below T3, bring friends. Some of the missions aren't that hard.

I think it's on Kashyyk, in the main village, by talking to Flash. He might be the second guy, but I think not. Talk to him, run a few missions, and then he'll send you to another guy in the same village to finish up. They're actually pretty interesting missions, and easy to do.

Wish I could make my Y8 worthwhile. Flies like a boulder, which is fine, but I can't get it to actually break any asteroids off from the main. Guess I'll have to take a crew up next time.

I thought the ARC-170 starts with the Queen in the palace in Theed. Flash is the guy to start the Y-8 mission. He's on the second level in the Cantina.

I tried using the Y-8 solo to mine, and it's a pain. It's slow, and trying to chase down asteroid chunks takes forever. My TIE Oppressor works much better. The only advantage I can see with the Y-8 is its huge cargo hold. If it were possible to mount both a mining laser and a tractor beam that the pilot could control, then maybe it would be workable. Also, maybe an elite mining laser would work better, as well as a high P/Y/R engine for more manueverability.
