Thread: Cannot tell how full my cargo hold is without landing

In the past, when I have mined for asteroid, I could use the tool bar on the right hand side of the screen to view my cargo hold, and see how full it is. Last night when I did this, I clicked on the toolbar button, and my cargo hold information would appear, but the bottom half/two-thirds was cut off. There was not enough visible to get any information about how full the cargo hold was.

I tried moving the toolbar around, but no matter where I moved it, the bottom was always cut off. The cargo hold is the bottom icon on this tool bar. All the otherbuttons display their information correctly. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If not, does anyone know another way to view your cargo hold in space? Currently I have to travel back to a starport, land, and then view it, just to find out I am not full yet. =(

I was getting the EXACT same graphical bug last night while I was mining. Looks like the patch screwed up the display area size for CargoHold %.

And yes you can just keep mining until the "Your cargohold is full" message pops up, but if you've got a larger hold or a POB mining ship setup.. it's a bit tedious not knowing how much farther you've got till you are full.

Agreed, you can just mine until your cargo hold is full, but I was just trying to get enough to craft my heavy z-95, which only requires 1000 units of Iron and 1000 units of petrochemical. My cargo hold is 1550 units, so it seems silly to mine an extra 1100 units of material, just to get the message that says my cargo hold is full. Oh, well. Hopefully they will fix it soon. =)

I mine until full because it's usually only about 5minutes work, to get the difference between 1k and 1550

if there is a mining outpost nearby, converse with it (you can converse from really far away) and go to sell resources and itll tell you how much of each is in your hold... only way I have found how to do so

Well not all of us are uber miners, and it might take us a little longer.

how the hell can you mine in 5 mintes? takes me almost an hour to mine 1550

ps.. i think you should be able to mine bigger chunks with Y-8, like 25 material per chunk, with the elite mining laser (y-8).

- I support the proper use of common sense when it comes to re-developing games which are nearly two years into their tenure...evidently this sentiment is not shared by those that finance this game.

Actually I run a tricked out Kimogila for mining, and I can clear 1k (Full Cargohold) in about 5 to 10 minutes.. and that is without trying real hard. I don't have any 'special tricks', I just read RedDwarf's Mining Guide (in the stickied FAQ's).

I also use a Kimogila when I mine. 1 mk3 mining laser, one tractor beam, and a defense gun.

Knock off medium chunk

Tap hotkey to target and follow it

Activate tractor beam.

Blast chunk when I get close*

Chase down any escapers

* Here's where my only 'trick' comes in. When you follow something, you can watch your throttle as you approach from behind. As your ship lines up, it will speed up one last time, then match speed. If you are close, with your tractor beam on, and blast it when your ship speeds up that last time, you end up passing 'through, the rocks before they scatter, and can suck up the entire chunk in one SHOOP! It's a timing thing.

Its been a while since I mined, but can't you look at the vehicle screen (v) and it shows you percentage? I can't remember though.

Now THAT is some useful info. Thanks for the tip.

i do the same thing, but without the auto follow being on. i just fly myself up to it with tractor beam on and then blast it. scoop em all up at once

takes about 10 minutes to fill a 1550 hold, sometimes less.
