I flew my Jsf, Heavy Syck, and a duneliazrd... all smoked. I run WO3, CO3, EO3, RO2, and have CtSS 3 and 4 in my FC and Droid. I tried to follow the FAQ on the vette. I'm not an idiot jedi pilot, I've been flying sims since the mid 80s and racked up tons of flight time in XvT, X:WA, and others. My parts are all REd with the excetpion of my second borstel, and those are getting turned to crap now. I've flown missions that flew into natural spawns and fought for a straight 45 minutes on an escort duty in endor. And for some reason the fighters kill me less than 30 seconds.
And 20 minutes after my last failure, someone asks me to help them on thier master mission ![]()

I dive away at a 90 degree angle from the bottom tothe rearof the vette after taking weapon 5 out. I make erratic spirals to try to avoid enemy fire and use CtSS to shrug off ony serious hits. The problem is nothing misses me no matter what manuvers I make. I use Immelmans, Split S's, Bell Manuvers, Herbst Mannuvers, Scissors... I've tried it all and nothing makes them miss. I bet I'd still get hit flying the bugged RGIThe aggressors never miss a single shot and eat off my shields in like 3 hits, making CtSS 4 almost useless. The other TIEs just whittle awya enough to make them annoying but they still punch thru in a few hits
I'm going to again in my JSF after I strip down everything else toswap parts around.
For the record, I'm using a 2.5k F/R RE'd Level 8 reward shield when it fits and an 1.8k RE'd Protecto-Net shield when the first one doesn't fit.
Normally I'd say to just work on your piloting skills a bit but if you've been flying sims since the mid 80's and you know a few ACMs then you obviously know what you're doing. Although manuvers are a bit different in vacuum than in atmosphere they still come in handy.
And with your loadout and droid programs you should be killing the vette at will. The only thing I didn't see mentioned was your engine. If you've got a nice high PYR engine in your JSF (I'd say at least 75 or better) and if your manuvering and running those programs you shouldn't have any troubles at all.
Actually, how good are your shields and armour? I know that those rebels and imperials in their tiny ships can dodge incomming fire. But you're in a Rihkxyrk, that ship is big. (If you don't believe it, there was a thread lately, screenshots of different ships from above and the side... the A-wing is barely bigger than the Rhyk's cockpit... )
As freelance, don't put too much trust in your dodging skills, our ships mostly tend to be huge but have a good deal more of mass than others. Put this mass into good use, get a missile launcher, drop in some nice armour, increases survivability a lot. And, kill the escort out of range of the vette, don't head straight in towards them (takes way too long to turn and move out) but come in on a wide arch, just get close enough to pull the escort and pull out again... still with the vette not directly behind you. While you move out, the escort will start battering your rear shields, but with some nice shields (a good cap and cap2shieldshunt 4) this should be no problem.

have you read the FAQ? did you read any of the vette guides people have posted? are you flying a p.o.s rhik instead of something smaller and more survivable? do you have the imperial droid programs to overload weapons and engines?
ive taken an entire vette task force including fighters and gunboats solo with no bomberstrike while flying a 20k mass TIE-Fighter with a mix of mark-I and mark-II crafted gear.
