Thread: i hate space now
You probally making two large mistakes.
1. Your not pulling the fighter screen far enough from the vette and gunboats that they can still attack you also
2. Your pulling the screen and flying in a straight line.
Once you pull the screen they will chases you for a good long time before giving up so you can turn and weave and they will still be following you. Remember you should always be turning and never slow down if that means you have to make more passes against slow fighter then do that. Slowing down behind them is death if your trying to solo it. Also If you going after the IMP vette attack the Oppressor first then interceptors then Adv and the aggressors last. If you are going after the rebel vette the B-wing and Y-wing first then A-wing and Xwing last. The awing and interceptors will hit you the most often but they don't hit even half as hard as when the B-wing and Oppressors do so that's why it's important to get rid of them first.

How about an idiot non-jedi pilot?
Honestly I don't see where jedi comes into play. I'm a jedi pilot and working on my 7th pilot squadron. Stop getting hit, choose your approach vecor accordingly, and don't blame a wholegroup of players that aren't you for your shortcomings. Also, RE'd parts can be really great - but they can also be really pathetic, depending on who's making 'em and out of what. Make sure you read the stats on your parts.
Hopefully your past experiences in XvT and X:WA isn't turning into a handicap. They're completely different games, and even the physics are different between them. Good luck up there and keep at it!
Posting in anger is a bad thing *blush*
I am in the same boat. I soled the Imp a number of months ago in a Rihx. I am also master shipwright. I went to help a fellow freelancer and we could not get the engines down in time. I opened with a Mark II spacebomb on gun 5 and was instantly vaped when it hit. No time to even blink. Same for the friend when he went for Primary shield. Did they change something on this? I would take some serious shield damage the first time I soled it but now I go bang then boom. No time to to do anything. I fly alot and know all the tricks but it is just instant Vaped.
Give me a shout tonight if you need a hand, I'm on after 8:30-9pm EST. Also feel free to pop in on the phoenix chat channel to ask for assistance.
Unless you want to solo it of course. I'd be happy to talk tactics and loadout.

I saw you flying a YT last night, did your vette? Or is Celaki RSF and Meliya SA?

I did it with Celaki about an hour before I saw you in Kash space. Meliya is at 4333 SA (haven't flown with her in about 2 weeks now

I wasted last weekend trying to kill the Star Ravager on two seperate occasions and wasted all of this afternoon trying again two more times. I've tried different tactics, loadouts, fighters, and all I got was vaped. Not even a single fighter was killed. This is my second squadron (mastered RSF previosly) and it appears that I'm not supposed to master it.I draw off the fighters... blam, i'm dead in 30 seconds. The longest I lasted was when I used IFF scramble ti save my hide after getting pounded. I have no clue what else to do other than give trying to master Smugglers Alliance.I'm sure someone is goingto say find a group. Yeah, well, not happening on Valcyn. Unless you are part of huge guild or one that wasn't recently started, no one has time to help out. And even if someone by chance ever did, I'm unable to fly till I replace my joystick.I used to love flying in space
I wish I could help you. I find it not that difficult to kill it solo, after some training. Especially in JSF. What can I say...draw fighters away from vette (it has some strange shooting range, so make sure you take some space between you two), then kill fighters. I'm sure that part is simple, unless you are not using programs and...er....uhm....have....a...suxor ship components. 2k shields, 75 speed engine, at least one 3k .6 vs gun, with other around 2-2.5k and a fast draid interface (16 is max speed you should use, aim for less if mass allows it). After you kill fighters some people would tell you to kill gunboats. What I do is order bomber strike (which you don't have being neutral), so try pirate trap. I know it sucks, but you don't need them to kill gunboats but just draw their fire away. You kill the vette, ignoring gunboats. With weapons overload 4 and guns as mentioned above you can get to blowing it's guns fast, in few runs. About ship handling now - avoid flying straight at vette - drop some shots from max range and when you see it starts to retaliate just turn around and fire your busters (don't fly in stragiht line here either).
Or find a co-pilot
Good luck
