The only thing that I'm interested in dealing with non Imperial ships is the sound of their hulls breaking up.

It is wise to study the ways of ones advesary, is it not?

When you fly and kit rebel ships yourself, you develop a newfound respect for what they are capable of

Amirable from a certain point of view... but Duc is correct here. Knowing the different factions, ships and specials will make you a better pilot. Just the other day someone said they were in a pvp battle, they were disabled then vrepaired as their hotdog opponent made a flashy flyby. Consquence of that action? They got vaped because they got cocky and maybe didn't realize a Reb pilot had that special?

Better yet, you might even become a "physic" of sorts and be able to guess what people are packing in their ships just by watching them. Later still, you'll get to a point where your've your fitting ships within 300 to 40 mass tolerance.

i prefer to become "psychotic" and know that their ship will be full of slag metal when im done with it.

I could tell you my recent story about the JSF I crippled in Deep Space who pwnt me with Epulse3 because I figured he was out of it with no engine while I evaded ISD fire.

Know your enemy, or he will own you.

It is true though..you get to a certain point and you start to be able to mor eor less guess what parts someone is using, especially with engines. Crafted engine users in pvp stand out like sore thumbs I find.

But yes, what Dyc wrote is pretty spot on. I didn't learn how to appreciate my A-wing fully until I tried flying imp and had to deal with their low mass ships. Coming back from that..an A-wing's mass seemed pretty generous to me because it's on a par with a T/A and whoops a standard squint's mass.

This is the best advice possible, I think, along with just plain ol' fashioned stick time. I learn more reading what fools do and complain about here than anywhere else, I think.

It's fun to watch changes grow out from this forum. Something new gets discussed, and all of a sudden it starts showing up in PvP. The growth of level 8 engines to various tactics...kinda fun. More than anything I can tell which pilots read the forums and which don't.
