At the moment, I wish to find and disembowel whomever last left the Imperial Ace mission gunboat escort alive. I'm sure this has happened to many people, where the last person to destroy the corvette leaves the gunboats untouched, and then exits the system and grabs their Ace badge, feeling great. Either that, or they're destroying it for the millionth time, and they didn't feel like doing that extra bit of work. In either case, this pretty much screws over the next person who wishes to gain Ace, as the corvette does not respawn until those gunships are destroyed, or the server is reset. In addition, and this is the truely annoying part, if they make it to the despawn area, they start turning around in circles, never leaving a clean avenue of attack. I.E.: Unless you can amass a large armada, or at least a squad of ace players with the heaviest ships around, you're not going to be able to get in and kill them.
Pretty much I'm just trying to raise the awarenessof the disservice one does to aspiring pilots when you don't finish the job. It's not much fun to sit around for an hour waiting for it to spawn, then decide to go the 17km to the despawn area to find that it's utterly impossible for you to finish it at the moment, and you're not sure when it will be.
Thanks.

-=Read this one, it is the real one. Not sure how I managed to make two unfinished copies of it, but I seem to have done so, and am horribly confused.=-

I will put my hands up and admit to having done this myself.
However, it was out of necessity not lazyness. After many weeks of trying, I finally soloed the 'vette using "suicide bombing runs" in my Rihx. By the time I actually killed the thing, my ship was in no condition to take on anything else as my chasis was all but destroyed after having been in near perfect condition when I started.
For anyone else looking to do away with these things, you can sit about 560m away from the gunboats and pound the crap out of them, they won't shoot back. Just be prepared to run if they get too close. I've done this before to spawn the 'vette.

While I appreciate the request, it is a pain to clean up, at the same time, and Ace, a real ace, should be able to take these out.
I do not mean that to sound elitist or anything, just...it is not that hard.

For the gunships just strafe them over and over, will take MUCH longer than if they were on a set course but they are easy enough.
And i dont see why people dont take out the gunboats before they start in on the corvette (gun 5 not included), if find it harder leaving them alive tbh.

Your range to the gunboats is 550m. Theirs to you is 500m. Just snuggle up to the point where their drunken dance brings them occasionally into your range and blast away.
It's tedious, I know, but you will never be rid of the inconsiderate or un-informed player-pilots, so best you should know a resolution that will allow you to...
...move along, move along...

My usual target order doing the Vette is fighters, gun 5, shields, engines, gunboats, then I finish up. It's not all that hard, and the Vette isn't going anywhere.

Idiots, (yes idiots) who don't take out the gunboats before popping the vette are a pet peeve of mine. My personal opinion is, you shouldnt get credit for kiling the vette until the gunboats are destroyed, or at the least disabled.
That said, cleaning up the vette exit points to make sure an idiot wasn't there before you is standard SOP.
