Thread: No non master, neutral pilot pvp in kessel?

I've been looking for a way to get into Kessel to pvp as a Smuggler Alliance 3/3/3/3 pilot. Can't find anything on the forums yet, so please post to help me and others out. What I know for sure through trial and error is that I have to declare overt status on ground (reb), fly to the rebel Kessel entry station (dantooine), and declare overt status in space. I know from trial and error this station will not grant overt status if you're not ground overt, despite all the pilot faqs that say otherwise. This is where it gets tricky. From here, the reb dantooine station will only let me declare or go overt in space, it will not grant access to Kessel to neutral, yet reb overt, pilots. Fly to dathomir, the station that grants Kessel access to neutrals, and I can't even converse with the station - I get a message saying they don't deal with rebels.

If anyone sees some glaring mistake I'm making, please let me know.

Thanks -

Kessel is no longer the intended place to PvP, Deep Space is. PvP'ing outside of it will cause decay if you get killed. Since you're neutral, you must go to the Last Nav station in Dathomir. To enter Kessel, where you're free to attack rebels or imperials, no need to declare. Entering Deep Space is where you must declare a faction to fight for.

The technical term for this is "systems balancing", prior to release. After release, it's still balancing, but changes can be considered nerfs or enhancements.
Since you don't have it yet, if you cry nerf, I'll make sure your name is on the list to spew chicken feathers as your characters talk.

So it's true?.....

You have to be a master to pvp. With the exception of 1 on 1 duels, anyone who isn't a master pilot and doesn't have 30000 prestige points can't pvp in space?

I'd have gladly accepted the fact that you had to enter a pvp zone to reach master pilot, if this is the consequence. This is the equivalent of saying only overts on the ground who've mastered an elite profession are allowed to pvp.

I hope you're wrong, ImaTwi, but if not, this is the worst case I've seen yet of SOE 'fixing' a problem people complained about and made the game suck that much more for those of us who were'nt pansies about the whole 'forced pvp to master' debate.

Er no, that's not quite true. You should be able to declare your overt Rebel status at any Rebel station, then fly to whatever Reb station lets you go to Deep Space/Kessel and fly to Kessel from there. You will face decay if you get shot up, but you'll also be fully enabled for PVP.

As well, going to places where you find out imperials reguarly grind faction overt is a good step.

You need to covert or overt rebel on the ground to go overt in space.

Thx Tomo - I was hoping to hear something more along those lines. I have also been scouring the forums for more about this and everything Ive found leads me to believe you're right about being able to pvp in Kessel. However, I still had the problem just the other night, where I couldn't get into Kessel at all after I declared. The privateer entry station (Dath) wouldn't talk to me and the rebel entry station (Dant) would still only ask me if I wanted to change my overt/covert status in space.

I'm going to try again, and I'll post back here how successful I was.

Are you sure you're going to the right Rebel station to launch to Kessel? To my knowledge the ones that send you to Deep Space/Kessel don't ask if you want to declare, they just ask if you want to head to either of those locations. When I was doing this as a privateer for the Empire, I had to first go to a standard Imperial station, then fly across the Endor system to the specific one that would launch me to Kessel.

Theres your problem! Go to the rebel deepspace station, dantooine I think? It can't take you to deep space but it will send you to kessel while overt.

Yeah, that's the problem, alright.

You see, there's actually three Rebel stations in the Dantooine system. Two allow you to declare, the last one is for Kessel/Deep Space.

Nice - wasn't able to get on last night, so my next flight will be to Dantooine to give it a go.
Thx tons guys - youve all been a huge help.
Now - how do we get everyone who owns a ship to start a galaxy-wide pvp space battle? lol

At the moment, I'm trying to form a group of guilds and players to organize such events. I'll tell you if it works.

I would LOVE to be able to PvP in Kessel, thats where the action is at most of the time. Alas, Freelance pilots are not allowed to PvP anymore in Kessel/Deep Space UNLESS they are Masters and then ONLY in Deep Space.
If you go to a factioned station (only allowed if you are factioned on the ground) you can declare and be overt, but will not be allowed into Kessel as the Last Nav station in Dath will not speak to you. Neither will the Imp or Rebel entrances to Kessel or Deep Space. You CANNOT enter Kessel or Deep Space while overt in space if you are a Freelance Pilot.
If you are neutral on the ground, you are not allowed to PvP in space anymore unless you are a Master - as the factioned stations will not speak to you at all.
There is no way for a Neutral to PvP in Kessel at any skill level - it is not possible, you're screwed, thank the whiners who nerfed Kessel.
If you chose to go Freelance, some will say tough - that was your choice. (Funny the consequence was not there when most of us chose it huh?)
So in space as a Freelance pilot, have no fear - you can smuggle, terrorize, and create general mayhem without any fear of the Empire or Alliance, as their pilots can't touch you - even iof you try to pick a fight.
Your only real option is /duel or Master and go to Deep Space. (I warn you it's probably barrenly empty of players anyway)
And the devs wonder why people are dissapointed in JTL, when their nerfs took half the fun of space away from 1/3rd of the pilots. The only content we had was PvP and 1/3rd of us can't even participate in it like everyone else.

This was my original problem - most thought I was just crazy. Granted, I haven't tried the options given to me by others who've posted yet, but I will be severly dissapointed if neutral pilots can't pvp until master, while the other 2 factions can. At the very least they could've made it like deep space, and fight neutral but just have to declare 'pvp' or 'non-pvp' at the entry station first. That way those who wanted to pvp could, and those who didn't could've done their master missions in safety.
Along those lines, how hard would it be to 'declare' (for any of the 3 factions) at your station and pvp ANYWHERE in space??!?!?!?!!

That's insanity!!!

So, the only way to take advantage of the best place to gain FP in the entirety of SWG, Overt pilot killing opposing factioned npcs in Kessel or Deepspace, is now DENIED CONTENT for those who fly as freelancers!?

Excuse me???

Yes it is insane and completely unfair.

Back when they started changing Kessel to a non-PvP zone many people lobied for it, I was against it. I was flamed to all hell for it too. Nobody cared, because they could not see the implications beyond their own experience - now we're stuck with it.

Many of the saner people lobbied for OTHER changes to the system rather than th4e big nerf back that screws all. Suggestions such as the laternate way to master (7.5mil exp) would have worked or the suggestion noted above, to be able to choose at the entrance to Kessel to be 'overt or not' would have sufficed.

Instead the all knowing Devs nerf for the benefit of the few, to the detriment of all. SOE is known for this, remember /citywarn ? How about House TEF's - don't you love getting kicked out of YOUR OWN House?

Don't expect much support from many Rebel or Imperial Pilots, they think they deserve all the content - we shouldn't be allowed to contribute or participate because we chose Freelance and/or Neutral. Forget the fact most of us chose this path BEFORE the changes.

I have not seen our correspondant even acknowledge the fact that Freelance cannot PvP yet either, mainly because I don't think many even realize these facts very well, it is rather complicated - so often ignored.

Someday there will be content in space, but it's doubtful Freelance will get to participate fully, as the coding is obviously beyond them - they can only create problems, not fix them.

Sorry, II sound so disgruntled, this has been a touchy subject with me for months - I feel like I wasted my time to experiene JTL the way I ws promised it would be.

I can live without content, if I can create my own - but as a Freelance Pilot, I can't - none of us can.
