Thread: Tell me about the Dunelizard

Just hit tier 2 Freelance for the first time. As far as I know, the Dunelizard is the only other ship open to me at the moment. Just wondering if I could get some thoughts on it from some of the vets here? Before I lay down the time and money for one, is it really THAT much better than a scyck? As a tier 2 pilot, should I just pimp out my scyck and save up for tier 3 ships, or is the Dunelizard such a vast improvement that I should get one immediately? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I love the dunelizard, good mass and two weapon slots. The only thing that I can say would be better for you would be a Heavy Scyk if you have the credits to spend on one.

The dunelizard is still one of my favorite ships. I would actually recommend going to Tier 4 in the dunelizard over the heavy syck, since two gunslots will give you more damage and faster kills.I flew the dunelizard and didn't bother with any other ships until the Rihk - and even then there were times when I preferred pulling out the dunelizard for speed and handling.

Only downside to it is it's high profile and slightly slower YPRin PVP, but I still had several kills in mine while I was Freelance.

Scyk has 1 weapon slot, Dunelizard has 2. Doubling your damage output should be incentive enough. Many Freelance pilots have gone all the way to master in a Dunie. If it was not for the new ROTW ships, I'd still be flying mine.

Overall, I think the Dune is one of (if not the) best of the crafted ships in the game. One can do virtually anything ina Dune. I am by no means any sort of great pilot, but I soloedtwo of theTier 3 missions, andtwo of theTier 4 missions (working on the 4th... might even get it solo, just hasn't worked out yet) in my Dune. And get this.... I still have over 9k mass open in it.

Thanks for the responses. I'm sold! Off to buy my chassis now. Sounds like a ship I can stick with for awhile. And is it just me, or is the Style 1 WAY cooler looking than the Style 2?

LOL From certain angles, Style 2 looks rather phallic. I'm quite content to stay with Style 1, thanyouverymuch.

I used the Dunelizard for the vast majority of the Freelance missions. It's an awesome ship for PvE.

Ya me too. The dunelizard is what, 85K mass? has 2 hardpoints and 1 missle mount. Off the top of my head i think it has the same speed modifeir of an xwing with s foils closed, and has the same YPR accelration of a tie advanced. Its two cavets are its size and accel and declleration ratings. But it IS a fine ship, and is really all you need to master privateer. Best of all, you get it at teir 1.

If I hadn't got the Actis Interceptor, I would've done my master mission in the Dunelizard. It's far and away the best Tier 1 ship, and one of the best period.

I just finished SA with my alt and I used the Dune up to 4333. It is sooo much better then anything rebels get up to tier 3. At 4333 I went with the greivous, on Gorath the market is flooded with them and I bought one for each account for less then 500k each.

Dunelizard is a huge upgrade from the basic Scyk, you have two weapon slots and a lot of mass to play around with using the potentially junk gear you'll have early on. I would stick with the Dune until you've started to collect a nice set of gear and then, if you think it would suit you, move on to a new ship type.

I fly the Heavy Scyk myself, but the Dunelizard will serve you well if you decide to keep using it.
