WHY is it that people cant just either A.) be helpfull and answer the Newbs questions(regardless if its in the FAQ) B not post if they can't.
I understand some people think they are SOOOO smart and never make Newb mistakes or fail to read things that are posted for others information. Some people just dont have the time or the patience to read the LONG FAQ for what they want to know...
SO please if you can contribute to NEW people joining in the JTL part of the game by answering the question and not Being SOOO much smarter and saying things like the subject of this message or laughing at person asking then dont reply to their messages...
Just my rant for the week

Why is it that people are so thin skinned they need to whine when they're told their post is spam?
I don't have a problem answering new people's questions, or pointing them in the right direction to the answers. I do it all the time. However an "important warning" to new people thread that is simple FAQ info? All that is is clutter. Clutter is part of the reason forum search doesn't work very often. Clutter is part of the reason people don't bother with the FAQ, even a short and simple one like ours. Sorry, but if you think the Pilot FAQ is overlong and obscure, you really haven't bothered with many FAQs.
Questions get answered. Questions will inevitably be repeated. People too lazy to look at a FAQ or bother to notice the same question has already been posted on page one, are going to be too lazy too look at a warning thread and expect an answer to their post regardless. Warning threadsare a useless middleman that just clutters the forum. Whine threads about posters who call your warning what it is, are useless clutter AND just plain petty and petulant.
Long or not, the FAQ exists for a reason. It's a cumulation of alot of knowledge and was rewriten in anticipation for all the new ppl many of us knew would come with ROTW. Its could be one of the best FAQs of any profession, and is an excellent resource. Use it. Hell, i still use it myself occasinally.
Theres ALOT of things involved in learning pilot. Thats why the FAQ is so long. Nobody wants to have to re explain the game basics (when there are so many of them) 4 or 5 times a day.
Don't get me wrong, many of us love to help, but sometimes its really aggrivating when metaphorically speaking, you got someone trying to push a door open, yelling and screaming becuase its not opening, when theres a sign thats clearly labled "Pull to open".
Ya know what i mean?
Even worse, some people feel the need to make the same sort of threads right after each other, without looking if their question is maybe answerd on the first 2 pages, and of course then get angry that somebody points out that a simalr thread already exists in plain sight.
Plus, the faq isn't a long read, its really accesible and carefully ordered.. If you cant find the obvious answers there i can't imagine how you can play the game. I mean in game there is a lot of text too.
I try really hard to be as helpful as possible, whether something is in the FAQ or not. I really like the idea that no question is really that stupid, as long as you're willing to ask it.
However, we've also had an influx of threads asking and sometimes demanding that space be made easier, frequently from people unwilling to take advice and unwilling to learn from others. Many of these people come in with an attitude, and I find myself responding harshly to these threads. Someone stumbles across a bug or difficult mission, they post like they're the first to ever have trouble, and blame the wrong people for it. Meanwhile pilots have been getting to Ace since JTL was released, and these same 'impossible problems' didn't stop them. Rather than learn from others, they'd rather complain and ask for an easier game.
Ask an honest question and come looking for help, and I think you'll find it here. Even common questions get pointed to the FAQ, which is a way of helping them. Come in looking for pity or whining, and you'll probably get a harder response.
It's quite easy to understand why people can sometimes get a bit narked off when a question is reposted many a time when it is clearly stated in an FAQ. I'm not saying that it's right, or that i'm not guilty of it (I can be an arsehat quite a bit), but try and see the point of view from people that enjoy posting and answering valid, sometimes obscure questions in and around the pilot community.
One thing that bears pointing out is that for the most part, the gameplay in JTL is twitch based. You have to have skill and knowledge as a player, you must think on the fly (parden the pun), and react properly with trained or instincutal responses.
The RPG gameplay on the ground is the exact opposite. Overgeneralizing, its all dice rolls based on your characters template and skills, not yours. If a persons used to RPG mechanics i can see why JTL might be too hard for them. Not everyone is a "twitch" player, and even then not everyone has the "nack" for making quick decisions, or see action and have a quick, clean, deliberate, reactive response.
All that said, if JTL were any easier, id be five times as bored as i am now
Most of the time, people who don't bother to read the FAQ are the same ones who post "OMG THE GAME IS BROKEN, I CAN'T PLAY, SOE THERE IS A BUG FIX IT NOW AHHHHHHHH"
or some other such nonsense. They act like this isn't a known issue, that they are being personally persecuted and that no one else understands. If they had read the FAQ they would likely have avoided the whole thing in the first place.
Sorry kids, you know the rules of real life and gaming.
Read the FAQ or you're FUQ'd.

I agree but...most of the time, these people who're whining or asking for help are asking things which ARE STATED IN THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
Now, I'm not going to sit here and repeat somthing which SOE kindly added in well presented typed text. I have nothing against new pilots...as I say many a time, my gaming experience basically consists of helping new pilots through their tiers and giving them advice, or pvp in space [or both at the same time]. I'll gladly help with things which aren't mentioned in the instruction manual but seriously....when someone posts a thread asking "How do I target nearest friendly ship" etc...well thats just pathetic and they shoul learn to be more assertive and read the instructions before loading up the game. And yes...I'm sure that thread was posted before long ago...or it might have been "What does the Z button do?".
Now I'm not flaming you...I do agree. Some people could be a little more polite, but it works both ways. New pilots, should make sure they're clued up from all the resources they have prior to visiting the pilot forums, before they come asking dumb questions and veteran pilots like myself should sometimes drop the sarcasm. I'm sometimes sarcastic and blunt, but I'd never laugh at someone at their expense.
