Thread: Is Black Epsilon Squadron the hardest squadron to master ?

I might be wrong, but I already mastered CorSec, now I am doing Imperial Pilot. I choose Black Epsilon squadron, TIER1 and TIER2 were fairly easy to do. But when I hit TIER3 on Yavin 4 stuff became just insane. My 3222 mission lasted 1 full hour and I was doing it with a friend who had fully loaded Ryhk. Note we were killing everything almost instantly (mostly him, due to the fact that I got 2 level 5 guns ), and still mission took us 1 full hour. Next mission was to destroy a rebel emessary on nova courier..... From what i see right now CorSec was a walk in the park comparing to this squad. Any thoughts from you guys ?

Noooo Storm Squadron is by far the hardest.

Completed Black Epsilon last night. The Tier 3 missions were very difficult, but doable with a nice group, just expect to be up there for an hour or so.

I've helped a few friends out with SS missions, and they seem just as difficult (if not slightly more). I think the main limiting factor is the ship you have at tier 2/3, one gun and low mass makes things very difficult (especially against the Nova's), so it requires more people to complete.

It is well worth keeping with though. The last tier 4 missions, have one of the best build ups/story's ive seen in this game! (shame they had to end, and the last mission was a bit disappointing [i guess having 2 master pilots along made it a bit easy]).

Interesting question.

I'm not surprised that BE is harder than any of the freelance storylines. I found it to be easier than the Inquisition when I did it. I never did SS, though I do hear it's the hardest. In tier 4 of Black Epsilon, I was able to solo 2 of the missions, including that epic fight vs. the three Jedi (the last of whom is in a KSE) which left me with everything damaged, barely moving, with only one gun. I also found the BE storyline to be more fun and more interesting.

I think the Freelance missions should be a walk in the park compared to the Imperial branches. We Imps have the tiny ships to shoehorn pieces into (ok, A-Wing's worse). That Rebel Emissary fight's pretty cool, I did that mission yesterday with a guildy.

Hm... I soloed all but the last tier 3 mission from the inquisition in a TIE/IN. I thought it was easier than the BE or SS missions I remember helping people with.

I'm BE and have run several group missionswith Storm sqadron friends. Assement...

They equal in difficulty but the BE missions are a bunch more fun. Alot more killing and short escorts in BE. Storm has some ungodly long escort missions and several tier quests that have several ungodly long escort missions.

Mygroup cringes wherever we find out we are helping with a Storm mission. They are just that boring.

I'm a Storm Squadron Ace, and I've pretty much helped alot of Imperials through their missions, and I think BE and SS are really close, with SS maybe edging out a "win" in the difficulty section if only on the virtue that the missions are so darned long and boring that it takes a real force-of-will to climb back into your fighter to try again after having been shot down on the end run.

I have an Alt who is now a 4333 Freelance (RSF) "pilot." And honestly, I don't feel like much of a pilot there...I feel more like a tank driver than anything else...turn...pull trigger...taret destroyed...turn...pull trigger...target destroyed...ugh.

I'd say Storm Squadron is the hardest to master, but that's only based on helping people from that squadron on their missions.

Tier 3 missions are supposed to be difficult, but by far, the most difficult are from Storm Squadron, with Black Epsilon a close second.

The first SS mission can take upwards of an hour and a half, and they don't get any easier, or shorter, from that point onward.

Once I finally finished the damned mission, I trained to 2223 and it's been a breeze since.

Just my two creds.

Uhh..yeah..sure. Tier 3 missions for SS are not soloable, no matter what equipment you may have. I'm sure pilot skill plays a little bit into it, but some of the best pilots on this board haven't been able to solo them, so pardon me while I cast a shadow of doubt on your story.

Right now I'm sitting in Kessel space waiting for the corvette to show up. I have not had any assistance all the way through. Believe me or not, I have soloed SS. If you don't believe me...well, ask me how I accomplished any of the missions.

The trick is to think tactically. It's as much your tactics as your equipment.

The only Tier 4 mission I had to run twice was the fourth (I think) one...when you get attacked by two Rebel gunships. I had three failures in a row(!) trying to bring in a bomber strike before I took a bad shot and died.
