I've bugged this many many times in game and on the forums but it seems to be totally overlooked. Mons, maybe you could prod the Devs some?
Chassis dealers are supposed to be buying parts for 1k/level, right? They aren't. Try selling a level 10 piece. You get 500 credits instead of 10k.
Not game breaking, but certainly annoying.

Yeah it's very irritating. Usually I'll just delete my lvl 10 stuff becuase its crap and just to heavy for non-POB ships.

It's not a bug, the devs did this so that the playerbase would sell their lvl 10 stuff to other players instead of all to the chassis dealer. You know how long it takes to get 10 lvl 10 shields? Yeah...

Did they state that somewhere? That kind of reasoning seems a little arbitrary; it's not exactly easy to get 9 level 9 blasters, either.

agreed. If they did that, IMHO, that's a retarded reason to do it.

A guildie of mine told me about it. He doesn't play anymore, dedicating all his time to WoW now, but I'll see if it was posted anywhere or if he was just making that up.

If they were really interested in having people sell to other people, they would have not put this "feature" in for the Chassis Broker at all. Before it was in, there used to be many pages of parts on the Bazaar, 5-6 pages for each part type on Galaxy wide. Trade was brisk and parts were to be had in plenty. Now, you're lucky to see a 3 pages when listing ALL the parts at once.
I think it would have been vastly better if they had made dynamic bazaar caps for JtL parts. want to sell an L10? max price 12k. Level 7, 9k. Make it (Level of part + 2k) to allow for variance on quality or greed. Yes people don't get their money instantly, but it would revitalize part of the Player driven economy, and make USE of the code they added to the bazaar for JtL. You could even give players some money for items that didn't sell. Add a Junk dealer button to the bazaar, and allow someone to give it to an NPC junk dealer for a % of the current average price for that level of component.
I cry when I think of all the decent parts that have been sold to those little Bothans.... (nothing against Bothans, just the loss of gear) Reward parts, good loots that people just didnt know better... *sigh*

I feel your pain.
Though I have a house now that's full of pretty good level 8-10 equipment (and some of the blasters are pretty nice
). I don't plan on selling them to a chassis dealer. Trying to get enough to get the RE'd, but yeesh... it's hard to get enough parts for RE.

I have found that it is a building effect, if you have enough storage to collect, and keep collecting, then while you are waiting for 8 of 8 with a low mass, you are collecting parts 1-7 for the next time. that way the RE's can begin to come more quickly. Big REs take time yes, and they tend to come in spurts. Finish off a bunch of 8-10 projects at once and marvel at your empty house, but then its like Carlin said, what do you do when you have enough room for your stuff? Get more stuff!

The chassis dealer did not buy parts in beta, he did not buy parts until about 2 weeks after release.
