If you want some return, sell your parts on the Bazaar for 6k. My level 10s never are up for more than 24h before someone snags them...I'd put my 8s and 9s up too, but I'm sure people would just buy them to sell back to the chassis at a profit.
Mons, if any attention is stirred up about this, make it so that the chassis dealer pays 5k for anything tier 7 and up. That way, the junk parts are cleared from the system and dont clutter up the bazaar (which was the reason the chassis dealers started buying parts), AND theres a market for REable-level stuff between players.

Did they state that somewhere?
I will see if I can get "official" clairification on this........
I think it was a change to get Merchants involved in the parts trade. The parts come so fast though, and so little is actually what you want that you end up dumping them off wherever you can get rid of them. On the bazaar, it was great. There were always lots of parts to be had for RE. It would be a really nice feature if you could have the chassis dealers resell the parts at a markup, or allow merchant droids in convienient places to do so.
When I need a part, I don't go looking for a vendor that *might* have something at 5K per level. I just go hunting until I get one.

Here's a solution:
eBay-ify the bazaar!
If there were true auctions on the bazaar, this would not be an issue. The bazaar is a garbage dump, unless you can split your product into little pieces (resources, etc).

that makes Merchant pretty much obsolete then, as anyone could use the zaar to sell their goods at any price.

I think 500 per level would do the job too, and keep the progression.
