Thread: Imp pilots on Starsider: what's the story?
I'm wondering why that is, and what can be done to fix that.
I've heard all sorts of reasons, (ranging from members effected by huricanes to poor organization, to personality conflicts), but id rather hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. If the reasons are something you dont want aired in a public forum thats fine - Private Messages work too. I just want to know. I am REALLY curious as to whats going on over in the Imperial side of the house.

I'd really like to know what's up with the imp pilot population as well. I can guess on some things, but they are guesses. Some better than others. I also think that part of the differences now are that we really haven't been adding as many on the transfers/alts as the reb side. I think I may be the only transfer we had on Saturday and 1-2 people were alts.
However. If you are thinking about transfering to Starsider or even just creating an alt to fly there for PvP I urge you to create an Imperial pilot. I'll do what I can to help you get started as well.
Well from being an Imp from day 1 on Starsider let me give you a quick overview of why the Imp population and turnout for things are so low in space.
1. Lack of interest.
2. Way to many "l33t" and "uber" kiddies like to ruin things from the rebel side.
3. Part of the Imp problem results from number 2 only the problem being the "l33t" and "uber" kiddies on the Imp side throw a fit and dont want anything to do with pvp unless they've got overwhelming odds in thier favor.
Now these dont pertain to everyone in each faction but theyve been the same problems there always have been on Starsider. Only difference is its now space instead of ground pvp. My last trip into Deep Space consisted of zoning and being dead from 5 ships I never got to see sitting and waiting for imp ships to fly in. Makes even going to Deep Space useless.
These are all reasons why most of the imp pilots I know have either decided to just keep grinding the various pilot factions or load up PoB ships and have fun in pve with guildmates or friends and let the rebels see how much fundeep space is when theres only npc's to fight.

Actually we usually go in and fight each other. We've been doing this a lot lately. Although we almost always do it near the rebel station. I don't know who ganked you but I always try to make sure my targets are moving when they are near the ISD before I even get in range.
Taking things less personally might help your situation.

You did. I just have this wierd streak that wants to further explore why - and no, 42 is not an accepted answer in this subject

This discussion actually came up on Saturday. Someone mentioned that a reb pilot was on their friends list and was probably avail through /findfriend. It was quickly and strongly stated that such was not to be used in events. In fact, I think that is the only time I have seen Resha go OOC and not somehow mark it as OOC. It's still a good idea to remove folks. But, most folks are making an effort to have fun with the events.
Looking at my notes, Saturday, we had 10 Imp pilots and crew (8 ships). The week before was 10 again (8 ships). Two weeks before that was 15+ (I missed my second week on starsider. I also think Tomo came in late for this one.). Those are not always the same folks. Numbers are never really high. But moral usually is. There is a little griping about being out numbered and such, but it never really gets too strong. And, it's human nature to gripe about stuff before a conflict. Those who get shot down early, often end up becoming pests trying to find out if they should return immediately or wait for a regroup. The only time I saw someone leave after a shootdown they had some high end parts and needed to get a low end repair kit to do just enough to get them to DS.
As far as helping each other out, I have been incredibly impressed with the Starsider Imps. But, I also think the Rebs are the same way amongst themselves. Even, sometimes across factional differences for both. I can not say again how much I enjoy Starsider and the Pilot community I have encountered in it. I am just now getting back into the ground some and will hold judgement on that side.
Even if someone has an Imp alt that is low level, you can join. I was powerleveled the morning of my first large scale PvP to 1211 and had to ask how to declare I was so green. Even though I got blasted several times (mostly to put me out of my misery I think), I enjoyed it immensely and have not turned back. Many of these battles give you what you bring into them. If you expect fun, you will more than likely find it. If you expect the other side to exploit/grief/zerg you, that's what you will find.
