Thread: Speculation getting warm bodies in Deep Space
I like simple solutions. Lower the delay on droid commands, so PvP becomes even faster paced. Then give a compelling reason to fly. I always thought it would be cool if every time you blew up the ISD or Freedom station, your faction got a bonus of say, 2 bases globally to their world counts for 24 hours. So not only do you want to blow the other station, your guild needs to keep a few folks up in DS to defend your own station.
2. Remove the Ace requirement.
3. Allow Freelancers to enter DS while declared overt.
4. Allow overt declaration at the DS entry station.
5. Use static, scripted spawns in limited numbers. Some examples of this could be:
A. Imperial Star Destroyer versus Mon Cal Heavy Cruiser
B. Corvette battle group versus Corvette Battle Group (factions could include BS)
C. Imperial Bomber Squadron versus Freedom Station (fix Freedom Station by the way.)
Imagine hopping into DS and seeing a Corvette being pursued by the ISD (without the green lag rays) and receiving a distress signal from the vette (if you're Rebel) or request for assistance (if you're Imperial).
EDIT: Oh, and the system would send out e-mail alerts whenever someone entered Deep Space to whoever signed up for them.

We need the Galactic Civil War.
We need conflict.
To me, it's that simple.
2) Have totals corresponding with the GCW cycles for winners based on the number of times each side has destroyed their target in DS. Any declared pilot receives a system message when the target they should defend is under attack. After a winner is declared, for the next cycle, declared pilots of that faction gain a 5% fp/xp/prestige bonus. Optionally, a victory in DS gives a 5% bonus to calculations for victory on ground because of their control of space (sort of like control of the air in a traditional war).
Essentially it's a 2 stage thing. First, make it possible to win battles. Second, make that victory mean something without making it too unbalanced.

I agree.
The reason there are so few people in space is because the pilot missions are so difficult, and in some cases, cheap. Most people give up on becoming a Master Pilot because of it. JTL is wasted code if most of the people give up on it because they can't pass a mission and thus can't progress up the pilot tree. And finding help is not as easy as some people on these boards claim.
I'm sure the "If you're not a God pilot, then you don't deserve to master this prof" crowd doesn't want to hear this, but in my opinion the only way to get more people interested in space is to decrease the difficulty of the pilot missions so more people can master it. Simple as that.
I know very few people who quit working on pilot because it was too hard. The people I know who quit did so because the lower tiers are slow combat--both NPCs and players are slow. If I manage to encourage them to get up into high Tier 3 and Tier 4, they really start to enjoy the game.

people that would quit because the mission are "too hard" won't be anything but super easy kills and whinners that wouldn't want to PvP anyway. Therefore making the missions easier would just make sure there are more master pilots that stayed out of DS and that isn't what anyone wants (except maybe the afk grinding badge hunters)
BTW I case you haven't noticed there is a pilot help thread that has tons of volunteers for ever sever and faction that would be happy to help out.
