Hi there, just got a new computer with a 23" widescreen LCD monitor.

Anyone having problems flying on widescreen monitor?

Im using a 23" widescreen LCD and a saiktek cyborg evo as a joystick, My joystick has become really light in up and down movement but still normal in side to side movement, might this have anything to do with the fact that im on a widescreen monitor?

Im using the resolution 1600x900.

On ground its absolutly great with the mouse and all, but when i launch into spaceand try to dogfight stuff i cant hit much.

Do i have to go back to a 4:3 resolution or something or am i doomed ot use the mouse *horrible thought*? Its a damnshame cause i tell ya,JTL on a widerthis big is quite something, i get the shiverseverytime iflybya spacestation or ISD.

I play a wide resolution on my 20 inch LCD and i have not noticed any problems with movement. we are also using the same joystick. could it be an optical illusion? have you tried recalibrating your joystick? off the top of my head that's all I can think of.

Do you have astigmatism? Perhaps the screen is too large, and you being so close to it creates a sense of vertigo that tosses off your on-screen "balance."

you know what else i was thinking? when in widescreen mode you do see more of the actual screen an "inch" or so on each side. could it be that he's not used to having more screen exposed on the right and left thus it just seems like it's taking longer to move in those directions?

I bought a 17 inch widescreen monitor (with a TV tuner) for my second pc, I used it for awhile on my main system, I didn't experience any problems. But I didn't use it very long, a widescreen 17 is like playing on a 15 with an inch or so on each side. So, it went back to my second pc. But, the problem you might have, is that you see more horizonal than you do vertigal. It might just take you awhile to get used to it.

I have a widescreen laptop and I've been playing at 1600x1200 (4:3) the whole time. Do we really have widescreen resoultions!? What's the highest one available? I'll go test it out tonight and see if I have any similiar problems.

I have an apple 20" widescreen, I run the game at 1600x900 w/o any problems flying or on ground. I run the game windowed because if I run it full screen, it scretches stuff or leaves big black areas on the top and bottom as the default resolution is 1680x1050, which SWG does not support. I actually enjoy windowed better, I can alt+tab faster. I dont know how ATI cards work but NVidia cards have options in the display setup to keep the aspect ratio or fill the screen, I use the first.

I have gotten so use to running widescreen, when I play on non-widescreen, I feel like I cant see enough of the world and the HUD is too cluttered.

SWG supports any true 16:9 aspect ratio I think.

Ok, off topic, but I'm looking at these resolutions, and thinking wow, either you all suffer from poor frame rates, or have really fast systems. I have an Athlon 64 3000 and a 6800gt and galaxies is "ok" at 1280 x 1024. Again off topic, but, I'm curious.

Yeah SWG supports real 16:9 (1600x900) duh .The optimal res on this baby is 1920x1200 however, might this be a problem?

Yeah...that could be a problem. You know, because one is 16:9 and one is 16:10

lol I think we found your problem. If you are running it at 1600x900 that is the wrong ratio for the moniter, it will be stretched vertically if you have it taking up the whole screen. Running 16:9 on a 16:10 moniter you should have black bars on the top.

God damit i feel stupid now, i never actually thought of 1920x1200 beeing 16:10 just assumed it was 16:9 lol.

Ooookay, well that would mean the screen is stretched out then.

Ill try to tinkle with the settings so it doesnt stretch out!

Where do you even see a 1600x1200 resolution? I didn't get that option in my game's menu. I just set it to 1280x800 which is wide screen, but I could go higher, that's pretty pixalated. Does it support a higher 16:10 res, like 1920x1200?

You might want to check your device drivers too. Every couple of weeks my Logitech joystick goes whackadoodle. The twist axis turns left, but it only turns half as far to the right. I have to reinstall the device drivers to fix it.
